jimcr Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Back at it again ,this time with my wife and one of her friends Sarah , who has never fished before. Left the dock at 4:45 heading north to the filters. Trolled around for what seemed forever, dodging other boats , they kept trying to run over my 5 color. Guys auto pilot(no one at the wheel) can't see whats in front of you. Lot of crap in the water, garbage and I call it sea weed.7 color fires and ripped out at least 100 yds of line before breaking off. another spoon lost to Neptune. 2 drive bys, 3 missed fish , one in the box at this point, kind of discouraging to say the least. Headed South and the girls decided they have to use the facilities. I told them we would run in and try out front of the harbor, couldn't be any worse then what we did . Back out on the water get poles set and 7 color fires , king in the box. couple of minutes later , down riggers fires 20 down 35 back. Drag set too tight and lost it. Make sure that the drag is set loose enough but none of the riggers fires the rest of the trip. 7 color fires again then 5 color , 2 more kings in the box. made a turn at South Shore and headed north . 5 color fires and its time again to hand off to the girls . by the time one of them get set I already have the fish in. Ok next fish is yours Sarah all your , not 5 minutes later 5 color fires on the 10' 6" pole. (these really work great for the out side rods) after a lot of coaching Sarah has her first fish ever , nice 7lb king. to round up the day , 5 color fires right after we get done with Sarah's fish. This one really had some shoulders on it. Nice brown had to be 15lbs. Ended up the day going 6 for 10 , could have been better but novice drives and big swells make for landing fish a little difficult. Sarah Awesome job on your first fish. Tight Lines Jim
Nailer Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I see there's a bunch of cold water stacked up on your side of the pond. That sure make for some fine fishing.
