Boltman Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 We got out on the water about 5:30 pm, st up in 130 FOW and headed North from Just south of the Stick....Had a rigger set, and was setting a dipsey at 110 feet back when it hit hard...30 minutes later it was in the boat, approx 23 pounds Didin't wirgh it our though... got the dipsey in the water again 60 feet back.. it HIT again.... I'm thinking Damn this Orangge Crush is on Fire...Landed that one another good size King and set the dipsey again, only for for it to get out 100 feet back and hit again... I'm thinking ok Can I get a break here.... meanwhile the rigger prot side is doing NOTHING....so I checke it... Found a Hitch hiker... King so I let him go it was only about 13 inches long... he was so Cute...the action was hot and the Wife was doing a great job Driving.... so yelled out pull the lines she's doing a 180 to get back into the the action, so I did, set the rigger in 85 FOW down 60 feet and in 5 minutes I was heading for that rigger, this fish spooled me in 30 seconds...or less, so I let him he ran out straight off the back , then headed for the boat, Got him to 50 feet left to go and he went under the boat from the side.... Damn that was fun, The wife killed the drives and let him go between the drives and out the back end..., I finally got him in the boat about 35 minutes later.... 7 for seven that day in less then 2 hours on the water, I was too tired and back was too sore... we went in for the night.... It was a great confidence biulder..

Boltman Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 No I need a massage therapist to work the kinks out of my back, I'll send some pics tonight, but does anyone know how to crimp on the sleeves for Auto stops without hurt the cable? I guess I must have cut trhough the cable on my crimp which I do not understand since I used Vise Grips so there'd be no sharp edges to cut it with...????? Let me know.

Just Hook'n Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Very nice job. I personally didn't crip my auto stops. I just used the plastic beads that slip on the cable. They seem to work just fine.
GLF Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 If your downrigger cable is going to fray, it will happen at the crimp.
