fishmkg
Saturday morning was definitely an adventure to say the least. The fog was as thick as I have seen it in a long time. We could barely see a boat length in front of us the whole morning. Make sure you sound your horn or blow a whistle every few minutes while in restricted visibility, it really helps.Headed south very slowly which cost us some prime fishing time but the conditions demanded it. Set up in 120 fow and trolled on an east/west troll to 150. The fish started hitting immediately. We could not keep the riggers in the water. Had 2 ten pounders on the same rod. It was good thing they cooperated and did not zig while the other zagged. The rigger bite slowed a little allowing us to get the other rods down but it wasn’t long before we were back to having only one rod down after another flurry.SOG 2.8 to 3 depending on trollAt the bait 2.2Early rigger bite was 120-130 down (several 4 year olds in the cold deep water) that slowed moved them up to 40-60 downBlue Machine StingerHappy Meal MoonshineFruit Salad StingerGreen Glow Alewife StingerBloody Nose StingerBlue Mixed Veggies Stinger3 color Steelie Stomper Stinger5 color Steelie Stomper Stinger was extremely hot7 color Carmel Dolphin Singer10 color Watermelon StingerAll the Stingers were Stingray size150 back on mag dipsey on 2 with small white blade w/ Oceana Rapture Fly175 back with a mag dipsey on 2 with black flasher/white cracked ice tape w/ Duck Head flyAll caught fish.On Sunday I realized I did not have any fish in the freezer so we decided to try to get some for dinner. Went out at 1:45 p.m. with the family. It was beautiful out there and much cooler. Set up in 150 and decided to do a south troll. Same set up as Saturday but only ran the riggers, the 3 and 5 color and one dipsey. We had 5 kings in a little over 30 minutes with a throw back. The Steelie Stomper took 3 of the fish. The other two were on the riggers 60 and 65 down and were on the Happy Meal Moonshine and the other on the Blue Machine. We had more than we needed for dinner so we pulled lines and took a leisurely ride back to the heat at the dock. Good Luck,Capt. Drew
