DarkBlue Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 To all. Please be careful out there running in and out of the pier heads. We get called to these at least once a year, and usually it's just the boats taking the damage. That all changed today. Here comes the broken record but, at least wear your vests running in and out. Mark your waypoints outside the pier heads and slow down in the fog. This was tragic, in many ways, and could have been prevented. Good luck out there,Chrishttp://9and10news.com/Category/Story/?id=228904&cID=1
Priority1 Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Thanks Chris. This is a tragedy. Wasn't there a wreck on the South Pier last year or the year before?
jay d Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 i have seen a boat hit the pier in manistee just about every year for at least the past 5,have a picture of a hardtop thompson parked right on the south pier.the fog was still terible when we got there at noon today.this was very sad news to get on the water today.the boat that sank today was captained by a good friend of one of my fishing partners.dave is a very experinced captain, just goes to show you can never take things for granted out there.
