mriversinco Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Hi,I've been reading about the fishing getting hot around holland, grand haven etc. I see it's in 90-150' of water and was wondering about how far out that is in miles? I've got an 18' open plan lund but don't really want to go out too far. Thanks
diesel Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 not sure out of holland and such but out of suagatuck i would say a mile at the most cause you can still see land. and i am fishing out of a lund 1800 fisherman and have ran it out to 300 ft of water in st joe and thats a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng ride
Paulywood Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 You can see land out over 11 miles. 100' in Holland is probably 4-5 miles. I can check for you tomorrow.
Priority1 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Just click on the Nautical chart link up top. These NOAA charts can be a VG planning tool.
GLF Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 In South Haven 100FOW is 5-5.5 miles out. Like Nick said....you can see land from over 11 miles out.
Paulywood Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 3.4 miles out of Pt. Sheldon today got us 100' of water.
steeliebob Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Lets see you go out about 5 miles to get to 100 feet of water. There is actually 50 feet of water because below that the next 50 feet is nothing but fish. I have fished there but we always go out about 12 miles from South Haven. By the time we get the third line set we usually have a double on the first two. Off of the coast guard in St Ignace you are in 100 feet of water about 200 yards from shore. But that is 100 feet of water, the fish don't stack up as good. By Mackinac Bridge there is 200+ fow and that is where the salmon can stack up
