Adjusted3 Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Anyone know of a good welder for aluminum on the west side of Michigan? And in the same breath, I have 13 rivets that need repair. Got a bit of damage to the hull of my boat from our trip up north. Insurance adjuster is inspecting it in the morning and I need a reccomendation on who is good at welding aluminum. The weld would be a temp fix as I bent a couple of aluminum stringers to boot. Dang rocks!!Mark
Satisfaxion_Gauranteed Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 There's a lot of west side of MI. Are you in the southwest, midwest, or northwest mi?If in the southwest, Laylin welding in Dowagiac has done some stuff for me in the past and it's always been good quality.
Adjusted3 Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 Thanks, Southwest. I am actually in Coloma. Has Laylin done any boat work for you?Dogpatch is just a hop skip and a jump from me. Mark
Satisfaxion_Gauranteed Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Sorry for the late reply. They have not done boat work for me, but they have done some aluminum sheet work as well as cast magnesium work for me. Both times I've been very happy with the work.
Reel Turner Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Mark,Try Dave's Welding on Park in BH. He is just up the street from Napier and Park intersection. He put a skeg back on my skiff and did a great job. He also docks by Levi if you happen to be down there. Good luck with that!

bottom bouncer Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I have a1988 pro 17 Bass Tracker that leaked like a sieve. I found a place in Charlevoix that I could order some closed end rivets. I drilled out the old rivets ,squirted some good marine silicant in the holes and re-riveted the whole boat. no more leaking rivets. It pays to have a nephew who is in the auto repair business,as he loaned me an electric rivet gun.
minnow Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 There is a boat shop just south of m-82 on m-37 in newaygo that weld aluminum.
