OldCool Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Hello all,Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself. I'm the guy with an old boat (1960 Glastron Starflite) and the interesting (if not weird) name, Senez (if when we meet you pronounce it correctly, I'll buy you a beer, heck I'll buy you two for trying). I bought the boat from a friend for $200.00 (trailer and motor included). Took two years to restore it. After it was finished I was taking her out of the water when some guy comes by and asks, "Is this new cool or old cool?" not quite understanding what he meant I told him the year of the boat and he said "Oh, so its old cool" and that is how she got her name.Well I have only fished inland lakes but two weeks ago I took Old Cool out at Port Sheldon. Did not catch a fish but caught the fever of big water fishing. Thanks for the site, the great stories, pictures and the awsome info.See you on the water.
Paulywood Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Welcome! Just to warn you, you just caught the most contagious, expensive disease there is, big water salmon fishing! Quite a few guys on the site fish the Pt. Sheldon, Holland, Grand Haven area so don't be afraid to ask questions.
Nailer Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 So now you got my interest Senez. Lets get a few pics of this Old Cool up here. This post tells how. Port Sheldon is a great port to go out of. Here are a few shots of a Project I'm working on. %100 original. 1965 MFG Westfield Custom.
Just Hook'n Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Welcome to the site. Is the senez the torture device that was shown in DaVinci Code? That makes TON of sense for a boat name. HAHAHA
OldCool Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 The boat's name is Old Cool and my name is Senez but I think my wife would agree that after being married to me for 16 years I am a torture device. :-)
OldCool Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 That 1965 MFG Westfield Custom is a nice looking boat. This makes me think all the harder about getting another old boat to work on.
GLF Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Welcome aboard Senez. Living in GR, you are a stone throw away from a few good ports to fish out of.If you need anything, let out a yell.Mike
Priority1 Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Senez, A very warm welcome to you. Old Cool is just that. GJ on the restore. Holler if you need any help. You will fee right at home here. Now on the name pronunciation: I'm going with Sains. What the heck I'll take my shot at a beer. Or maybe a shot and a beer.
OldCool Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 Good try Frank on the pronunciation but at least you get two beer. Here is a picture of my boat shortly after it was finished. (I hope I did this correctly)
