Hello All.

I purchased a used Okuma Blue Diamond Roller Rod (BD-TR-862MH-1) for wire. I am looking for instruction on feeding the wire through the dual rollers (2 sets). There is one set @ the rear end of the rod closest to the reel and another set @ the tip. Is the wire fed over the topmost roller then under the lower roller (like a pulley)? This seems to make sense but I am 'perplexed'.

I've searched Okuma's website and emailed them without success. Any assistance, advice or instruction is greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Symon

I guess that with a roller on top and bottom of the wire, you have contact with a roller no matter what direction you have the rod bent.

Simon, Welcome to the site.

The first double roller guide is called a stripper. Its purpose is to guide the line or wire down from a normally very large frame reel. Without it the line or wire may not even touch the first roller, even under load, allowing the line to wander and even worse, touch the blank. That would be fatal with wire. Not sure why Okuma uses a second one closer to the tip, no need there. So like said above, the line goes under the high roller, then over the lower roller in a double roller or stripper guide.

It's good to have a rod builder onboard and the expertise that comes with him.

Thanks, can't believe I never stumbled across this board. Great topics and good honest discussion from what I can see so far.
