GLF Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Went to D & R Sports with DIRTY DOG today to pick up a rod and reel. $350 later, I made it out of the store. My wife was only expecting me to spend $150. Now I need to break the news to my wife.

bluedevil Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 I used to tell my wife that I always bought bargain deals. Everything was on sale so in actuality I "saved" money not spent extra.. But then again I am not married anymore so.....

killerbe20 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 My wife was really funny at the Grand Rapids show. She was almost more excited at all the great deals then I was. Believe it or not, i'm actually the one who kept our spending limited!Side note: Going to the GR show was just a bonus during our boat shopping adventure. I definitely plan on making it an annual event!
Priority1 Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Mike, Ya need to have a little $ in the rat hole just for these occasions.
GLF Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 Mike, Ya need to have a little $ in the rat hole just for these occasions. I had a c-note stuffed in the rat hole, and applied it to the purchase. After she found out only $250 came out of our account, she was more happy.
Adam Bomb Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I had a c-note stuffed in the rat hole, and applied it to the purchase. After she found out only $250 came out of our account, she was more happy. And he lives to fish another day!
SPOONWASHER Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I know how you feel! I live just up the street and I think I am at that place just about as much as my own house. Then once I do go there a bunch of my friends work there so I turn a 5 minute quick get something trip into a 1 and a half long talk about fishing!
1mainiac Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 It is funny my wife gives me crap all the time about how much I spend on fishing so I took her along a few times and she spends more than me. I really don't think it is as much about the money as it is who gets to do the shopping.
glnmiller Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Glad she took it well Mike, or you might be sleeping on the boat.
1mainiac Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 He is used to sleeping on the boat it's the cast iron frying pan that really hurts.
