Squid Bodies

So I was at the store the other day checkin out some salmon fishin' baits and I noticed the salmon bodies. I picked one up just to try it out. I haven't read too many reports that included fish being caught on them. Is it because no one uses them? Or just that they don't catch too many fish?

Squids definitely work, it just seems that mylar flies are the rage right now, but will both take fish. Some guys are using both to create hybrid flies that have a bit more bulk and using the squid to add more glow when fishing deep.

Glow squids work well. My favorit combo is a 8 inch white crush glo SD with a green glow squid. IT seems that bigger fish bite them there just a different bait to put behind a attractor. Just another way to put fish in the boat.

One of my best baits is a black squid with a 8 inch black spin doctor with white crush tape on it. I ussually use it on a dipsy. It seems to bring in some of the biggest fish.

I still run squid behind a dodger or flasher. Many of the meat rig set ups use squid like teasers ahead of the meat.

A lot of the deep sea fishermen use them. eBay has a ton of them listed. Here is a link.

You can buy the minis in glow. put them on your leader first then put on the fly body and they are deadly. we also use squids a lot for lakers bouncing bottom.

Squids were extremely popular here about 4 or 5 years ago. You wouldn't find a boat not running a white fish catcher and white glow squid. If not multiples of the same set up.

sea-mac ran a green glow squid 2 years ago with real good sucess last year not to much they seem to work better during the later months of the season

I use Green Glow, and Black and green glow, and pink and green glow squids with decent success. Just restocked on the pink &green glow bodies a couple weeks ago.

We use glow squid in the am with pretty good results. We tie a 1" glow stick inside the head with bread ties, sometimes even add a little sushi inside the head:eek:

One of the main reasons to run this set up. Cotton Balls work well also. A scent trail never hurts. Ya need something inside the head to keep it expanded anyways.

Herring oil is available at tackle shops. I know Frank's Great Outdoors has some. If you happen to running hearing strips just keep the cotton balls in with the meat. Man does that stuff stink. LMAO
