GLF Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I received an email from the host today. Looks like the website will possible be down on the 27 March or 3 April for 1-8 hours. I will let eveyone know when I have a confirmed date that this is going to happen.Dear Clients, Over the past 9 years Real Web Host has grown at a steady rate. This has happened in a big part because of you our clients. As most of you are aware all of servers are housed in a data center in Dallas Texas. With the steady and increased growth we have filled up our present alloted space at the data center. Over the last few weeks we have looked at increasing usable space at the data center. We are the process of building out a new space at the data center which give us 3 times the space we have now. To do this we must consolidate the 2 areas we have now into 1 usable space. Over the next few weeks we will be getting the new area ready with new power, new cat5 connections, a new cisco router/switch, and new racks to place all existing servers and new servers. Once this has been completed we will schedule 2 relocations of the servers. The first move we are scheduling will be on March 27, 2010 starting at 11:59 pm thru March 28, 2010 and the second move tentatively set for April 3, 2010 starting at 11:59 pm thru April 4, 2010. During this relocation we will keep the downtime to a minimum. We estimate that downtime depending on the order of the server moves to be between 1 to 8 hours with our goal being 1 to 4 hours. During this move all of your website data will be protected. Later this week we will posting a page that shows RWH server label numbers along with the server name and which servers will be relocated on what date. This is the first move of this size we have had to do since 2003. In that move we had all servers up within 4 hours and back online. We will update every step of the way to make this as painless as possible. Joey Moses Real Web Host
GLF Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 The server relocation is complete. Everything appears to be working correctly.
