Hoosier_Steelheader Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 So I was up in St. Joe a couple of weeks back and went across the river to the Benton Harbor public launch, and there's a round-about right in the middle of the road...How's that going to work when trailering a boat through there? Right on Main Street (I think it is also Business 96??) That just seemed crazy to me. I typically use the launch on that side because of the shallow water coming in from the St Joe side can be a little tricky.Has anyone pulled their boat through those yet? Care to share your experience?I'll bet that's going to be fun in summer traffic....JC
diesel Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 i have gone through that round-a-bout with a tri axle dump truck pulling a 38 foot equipment trailer so yeah you can get through it with a truck pullin a good size boat no worriesplus it was the company i work for that did the paving and dirt work so dont blame me i just need the pay check lol
Hoosier_Steelheader Posted March 17, 2010 Author Posted March 17, 2010 I never shoot the messenger... well usually.. LOLI also have never tried taking my boat through one of those. But I'll take your word for it about getting through it..Thanks!JC
EdB Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 There are 2 of them dang things when you come from the east. I'm glad you got some work out of the deal but that is one major waste of taxpayer dollars if you ask me. Here's a tip if you come from the east-You can turn left at the BBQ shack and avoid one of them when going to the DNR launch.
glnmiller Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I have gone through them with my boat, it's not problem at all. The only problems are the idiots that don't understand how roundabouts are supposed to work that pull out in front of you. Plenty of room for a trailer or semi to get through.
Hoosier_Steelheader Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 I suppose there was always that one at the south end of the street by Pier 1000, and that one seemed to work ok, it was just the first time I had been through there, and you know how you begin to process things on the ride home...
chromelander Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 glad its done, I diddnt like driving through the hood last year after dark
