2UNREEL Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I was tying some salmon flies for this summer and I made a couple peanut flies for spring. The nice thing about making my own flies is I can control the colors, skirt length and types of hooks. Its also nice on the pocket book. Question is what are some of your favorite colors, leader lengths, and flashers that are preferred when using this fly presentation.
1mainiac Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Orange green and blue are what works for me mostly blue behind a small orange dodger.
jgaul Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Can you buy Peanut flies or should I try to make my own??
Paulywood Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 You can buy them. I'm pretty sure Sigg's Rigs (site sponsor) has a wide selection. I don't have any of his peanut flies but I have a ton of his regular ones and they are great.
Daybreak Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Try some Blue/Gold! Thats my best spring color by far around here. I like em about 15" behind Red/Orange Mini-Spin Doctors, running 5-15 feet behind the ball on the chute riggers.
