Steve Arend Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Trolling Casting spoons! How many of you have ever trolled casting spoons? In the spring and summer when the Skams are in I like to use casting spoons on high lines off boards and run them back 50' to 100' behind an inline board and have caught many fish doing this. I will run Little Cleos, K.O. Wobblers and what some know as the B.J. spoon.Steve
Sixshooter Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Do this all the time in the spring and fall Steve. Like you said long line behind the board....or...back fifteen feet or so on the secret bobber technique.
Treblemaker Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 I rig them all of the time in the spring. We slow troll them behind a rigger, as a high line with rubber core sinker or 2 color core, and cast them for the spring coho and browns. Keep the speed down and use the electric if needed to get to the speed you would reel them. Real slow. In fact some days when the bite is slow, slow down and run the slower baits to check for a reaction. The thinfins run great slow as well as hot n tots as well to complete a slow program. Some days that's the ticket after the active fish get chased out or shut down.
