KJ pluggin Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I know a lot of you guys out there use spin doctors. When you are running SD's do you use the holes that would generate more action or less action where you attach your fly leader? Or do you change it according to what the fish are looking for?
Nailer Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Kyle, I've asked this question before also. The answer I got was about %90 for the high action hole.
1mainiac Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 most of time more action hole best to pull it alongside the boat and see how it behaves they can get pretty wild depending on your speed. I find myself running more Pro Trolls this last year.
Adam Bomb Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I keep mine aggressive. Love SD's, they accoutn for allot of fish on our boat!
Hotdog71 Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Kyle, I use the holes for more action as well. But like Jim said I do keep an eye on them to make sure the action I'm getting is what I want.Bob
mattmishler Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Im everyone on this i run it on the aggressive side.
Nailer Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) For those that don't understand what Kyle is asking. They come from the factory rigged in the less action hole. Edited January 27, 2010 by Nailer
joelsanders Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I have never ran them any other way! my chrome blue dolphin SD with a rapture glow hypnotist fly was my favorite rig on my favorite pole,my mag wire diver. c'mon spring i want to go troll'in!!!!!
KJ pluggin Posted January 26, 2010 Author Posted January 26, 2010 Thanks to everyone who replied back on this. I will probably add a few of these on the boat next season, most of what I run are Pro-trolls and Hotspots.
2UNREEL Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I have run my spin doctors on the slow hole(fin side) many times. I will often change it up depending on if they are hitting them or not....I also like running shorter leaders.....everyone does it different, its best to try what works for the speed you like to run.
Adam Bomb Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I should note that most of my leaders are around 22-24" from loop to bend in hook. Seems to work well for me.
killerbe20 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 HA! I have always run them in the "more action" hole....After further review and looking at the excellent diagram, I have actually been using the less action hole. They have worked for me but Alderton Flashers or Protrols have always been more productive. Maybe I should start reading directions and get out of the "ah, i can figure this out myself" attitude more often!
Rayman96 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 HA! Maybe I should start reading directions and get out of the "ah, i can figure this out myself" attitude more often! slow troll......fast troll.... less action......more action...............so much confusion!!! I just want a fish at the end of my line!...........
scottb Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 If you have fly leaders on the shorter side(under 22" from end of loop to fly head) you will have no problem getting fish on the less action hole of any brand flasher. Over 22" you should be on the more action hole.Just my 2 pennies.
