Priority1 Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Be careful out there. It seems this happens at least once each year. Prayers for his family.http://www.connectmidmichigan.com/news/story.aspx?id=402630UPDATEhttp://abclocal.go.com/wjrt/story?section=news/local&id=7221225It will be 2 years this March since I lost a friend through the ice near Bay City. Two went in but only one made it. I fish with Jim H the survivor, but not on hard water.
DIRTY DOG Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Fish are not worth the risk, I had my one chance at fate and beat it , trust me it's not worth it.
steeliebob Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I had a close call once, now I hug the shoreline. My brother in law disappeared through the ice on Huron so I give the ice alot of respect.
Priority1 Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 The Saginaw Bay claimed another victim near Caseville today. This brings the total to two this weekend. Prayers for his family.http://abclocal.go.com/wjrt/story?section=news/local&id=7223180
Adam Bomb Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Very sad. I was out today and the cracks off Linwood are terrible. Also open holes along the crack. In the dark it looks just like glare ice. If you go out, go in groups, take saftely equipment and travel in the day light. I know the best bite is generally early and late, but its too risky to travel at those times right now.
Priority1 Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 Best bet is to heed the warnings and stay off the ice for awhile. Bomber, Thanks for the first hand report on conditions out there.
Adam Bomb Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I agree Frank. If your unfamiliar at all with big lake fishing, dont go on it.
fishinmachine2 Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Very sad!! Becareful out there guys!!!Scott
