fishsniffer Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 ive been using cortland lead core...im thinking of buying the woodstock brand due to price...has anyone used this brand?
Adam Bomb Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Nope, have always used Mason Lead Core. Never had any issues with it that werent caused by fighting other fish or my own stupidity...lol
fenceman2ac Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Me also, I also use Mason & it works wondrful.
plumkrazy Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 i got a spool of it last yeaar don't think any of it made it on my reels but about half of the spool ended up on dirty dogs boat as i buy a 1000 yard spool
1mainiac Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I have used Mason Woodstock and Cortland never noticed much difference other than price. could not tell you which reel has which.
Fishwhisperer Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I use Mason and Cortland with no failers to either.
DIRTY DOG Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 as phil said i have a bunch and i think is weres out a little fast.
Paulywood Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I started using Cortland exclusively last year just because the sheath seems to be woven tighter than Mason and therefore easier to tie. Haven't tried the Woodstock.
Hotdog71 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I used Mason my first year then switched over to Cabelas brand. It is much cheeper and has been just as reliable for me. I've used their non-lead line as well and have been very pleased.
tltorrice Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I have also used the Cabelas brand with good luck. Then last summer I needed to respool one of my rods and bought some at a shop in Manistee, I don't remember the brand. It was thicker even though it was 27#. I had to remove a bunch of backing to make it all fit on my reel. I don't know if you guys have noticed any difference in the thickness or not??
Line Dancin Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I've used the cabelas brand for quite a few years. It is half the cost and if you open the package and look at the fine print there is masons or cortlans name i cant remember which it is the guy at cabelas showed me that quite a few years ago.
