I was looking at adding some rod holders on our new ride for next season and I was wondering what you guys thought about the Dubro swivel mount rod holders seen here. I would be using them to run boards off of. Do you think these holders are a quality durable product? If you would go a different rout what would it be?

I wouldn't go with them. They are on the cheaper side for quality and durability.

I would go with Berts or Traxstech.

Are you looking for rail mount only?

Just an FYI Fish Dog Company has free shipping right now. I think the Bert's ratchet holders were 58.00. Memory serves the same ones are 79.00 at Gander Mountain.

If you want rail mounts I would go with the fixed position ones. Rods and reels are too expensive to trust to those type of holders. Just buy the fixed position and install at the angle you want. Those seem to be saltwater holders and they don't do a lot of trolling on the ocean. Probably work great for still fishing.

I have looked at a lot of rail mount holders and have found none I would would use for trolling. Well none I liked anyhow there are probably a few out there but we load up our rods way more than most so the idea of a rail mount is not that good in my opinion I would consider them for extra rod storage but would not fish with them.

Thanks for all you input so far. Twisting is one of the concerns I had about these holders. As far as Berts or Traxtech goes I'm not sure how that would work in my situation. Here are a few pics of my boat, if anyone has any ideas I am open for suggestions.

The old rail mount holders that are on here are very sturdy, the previous owner used to run divers off of them without a problem. Unfortunately I only have two of the holder tubes. If anyone knows where to get these let me know.

my self i would go with a set of rod trees mounted in tracks right at the back of your hard top.have been running trees for two years and would not go any other way.they are great when running multipal boards:grin:

I too like my triple trees. They are a great way to stack rods vertically while not taking up space on your gunwall. They (the ones I have are big jon) also let you stagger the angle of your rods so you get less tangles. I have the top one almost vertical, the middle one on a 45 and the bottom one at about 20 degrees. Then I run my dipsey straight out. Keeps everything clean.

I run a set of quad trees on my Islander hardtop. 10 boards when conditions are right, is not a problem. They are the cat's A$$ for running boards.:)

I did get some SS rail mount holders off eBay from Tommy Marine. They were about $22. I'm using them as net holders. They do look substantial.

When it comes to rod holders im of the philosophy that you should spend some money on them once and have them for a lifetime. Go with a quality manufacturor like trax tech etc.
