fishsniffer
i havent read every reply to this thread so this might already be covered but when doing backing the tape does help but another reason for mono is to get some stretch...especially behind a copper..then youre power pro...this helps with hard hits or an unexpected run

1mainiac
Terry you should know the the government taxes and fees will drive it well over 1.3 mil. But on the bright side you could fish all the tournament trail events and write it off your taxes so in the end it would be free. LOL
1mainiac
I think the toughest part will be getting guys to kick in on fuel once they see what it costs to fill a 1500 gal tank.

KJ pluggin
Those guys are out of Sturgeon Bay. They now have a shiny new 09 model, but they downsized to a 54. Must have been trying to save on fuel LOL. It defiantly is a beautiful rig though.
Deuce
I’m putting line on my down rigger reels I thought 20# mono on two and 30# mono on the other two but I can’t seem to find any post that tell how many yards I need (Penn 209s) do I need to fill them? Seems like a lot of line? Also I setup my diver reels 200 yards mono 300 yards pp fill the reel I hope this is correct?Jim if you don't mind I may have take you up on getting together and showing you what I have so I’m not wasting a bunch of money on items I don’t need, I’m available most anytime
Paulywood
You will want to fill up the 209's for 2 reasons. One, If the reel isn't full you don't get the gear ratio that the reel has. You have to crank more times to get the same amount of line in. And the 209's don't have a real high ratio to begin with. The second reason is that at some point and time you will probably need almost all of that line. We have all been spooled our almost spooled by a big fish, foul hooked fish or just plain old pi$$ed off fish. And then you will regret not having as much line as possible. I buy my mono in bulk spools from Cabela's.
