1mainiac
Is anyone happy with the shape of our current government and them taking over every aspect of our economy and lives? I fear for my kids and grandkids and the quality of life they have to look forward to. At current rate the dollar will be about the same as the Peso in in less than a decade cap and trade will quadruple energy cost that means your gas and electric bill. It appears they will pass a health care bill that has not even been written yet and since they passed the useless recovery bill without reading it I guess it won't matter that they will vote on something not even written yet. We print and spend trillions of dollars we do not have anyone wonder where it will be paid back from. The answer is you children and grand children get the bill just as you pay for your parrents and grand parents SSI and retirement your kids get the bill for this pile of crap. When the smoke clears and the coming war is over I wonder what the new flag will look like?

GTRIEM
I am NOT happy w/ our current state. Have been laid-off since Jan., so I see alot of news and its depressing! Lying, cheats, socialists running us into the ground. The moral compass of our "elected" leaders is waaay off. Soldiers are dieing, while waiting for the CIC to make a decision. POTUS has surrounded himself with the most Marxist following staff in history. We are cutting defense while other countries are beefing up there missile arsenal. The administration openly admits that we (Americans) are stupid and need to be told what to do. Its against policy to fly an American Flag is the talkof the nation, along w/ an Eagle Scout has a pocket knife in his car. God is a name/word not to be spoken...but gay/lesbian are terms my children here and need explanation. I could go on and on. Yes I to wonder what the flag will be, if one exists at all. We wouldn't want to offend anyone. Sheeeeesh!GTR
spoonfed
I see another revolution coming. Sad to say but maybe thats what we need, to take this country back! Our elected officals are supposed to be working for us, not driving us into the ground! It just amazes me that so many people belive the lies and BS coming out of the governments blow holes! Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid need to go. Hopefully Americans will wake up and the next vote to take the trash out!
Just Hook'n
Amen Brothers. Opps, can I say that? I BB watching? To think that taxes were started on a temporary basis ONLY to pay for war supplies. They were to end. Give a kid a sucker and he will not only not give it back, but wants the whole jar of candy. Government is just a big greedy kid with seemingly no punishment ever levied upon them.

Walleye Express
When the smoke clears and the coming war is over I wonder what the new flag will look like? What, aren't you loving the CHANGE? And you've already seen the new flag Jim. The one with Obama dressed in his Arab robe looking like the Christ, with radiant beams of light shooting from his head. I've done everything a man can in a common citizens position. I've sent more letters to my congressmen & Senators this year then I ever have. The last one concerning his army of Communists loving Czars that he appointed, with all the Mow and Lennon loving people on it. Now I see the new government wants to take over the internet, so even those letters I send get censored and don't get where they are supposed to. The days of electing an official with your views to represent you in the government while you go about working, raising kids and enjoying life are over buddy. We may need to purge this plague apon our rights the same way we did the british. People who don't watch FOX news or the Glenn Beck show, is only hearing what Obamas Pied Piper machine is feeding them. The biggest CON and minipulation in the history of the world, that would make Hitler and Musolinie proud is being purpritrated on the American people. We all need to wake up and at least get passively involved or the America we know is over. Any other flag questions?

Walleye Express
Never said there wasn't any good things in this country. That's why I passionetly defend our rights as best I can in my miniscule capacity. But don't think those rights are devine dictate and cannot be taken away by power hungry officials. I hope you never have to tell those lovely kids on your lap what America used to be like.

1mainiac
I guess I get concerned about what are considered rights anymore cause as soon as they decide some new thing is a right not a priviledge they want me to help the deadbeats pay for it. I have read the Bill of Rights many times and a lot of crap we now have to pay for others to have is not listed there but yet many that are there are being taken away. Worse yet is the schools training our children new versions of history they used to say you can't change history but from when I went to school many of the books have changed. Teachers are adding way too much of their personal opinions to the classroom rather than sticking to the facts. Kinda like much of the news on TV not sure I want to hear the opinions of a news reporter who gets a tingle in his legs as a man who won't even provide his actual birth cert is made our President. 1mainiac
Very funny Don we'll see how you feel when your kids and grand kids look at you as some form of villian because you like to hunt and fish and that is cruelty to animals. I suppose you could take up needlepoint till they realize the yarn is shaved off sheep and they might get cold without it.

Walleye Express
Jim. This subject alone IMO brings to the surface feelings of varying degrees in each person. Seems when I was younger, I was perfectly content to let the world cruise along on it's own merry course as long as it didn't cramp my style. Who was President, Senator, Congressman and what their policies were, seemed to effect me very little if at all. As long as I had a job, gas money, could go hunting and fishing when I wanted to, and have all the female companionship I needed, life was good. Why worry about what my elected officials were doing. But this complacincy is the cancer these poloticians count on you ignoring until it's to late and they get their own idea of govenment. If you don't pay attention and the responsibility to put out your campfire when you leave the woods, the woods can and sometimes does burn down around you. Some people put that responsibility on a higher rung on the latter then others. It's not that the others would not help (if need be) to put the fire out. They'd just prefer to live their lives unhindered and unworried by such things, (who wouldn't) and trust that people like you would let them know in the nick of time, if their house and their families lives might be in any real danger from this fire. What I see in the white house and congress right now is one big group of pyromaniacs. Edited October 25, 2009 by Walleye Express
1mainiac
I guess one of the things tha bothers me is how can the ABC CNN NBC CBS news groups all say how popular this load of crap is when I can't find a single person who supports it and loks forward to when they get all their agenda in place. Where do the approval polls come from that we here about every day. Even on sites with people who praised OBAMA as a the next God they pretty much all respond to any real questions by blameing the Bush administration for leaveing a mess. Obama wants us all to think he got stuck with a big mess no one wants to talk about his part in creating it. He was one of the Lawyers who along with ACORN and other groups sued the banking system because they did not give out more junk mortgages which forced the banks to buy homes for millions of people who could not repay the loans. This inflated the value of homes and made a huge false economy. And the first thing he does in office is Spend a few trillion dollars we don't even have devalueing our dollar further. Why is gold going up in value it is because our dollar is going down. Gold has never gone up or down in value very much in a thousand years a ounce of gold will buy about the same amount of stuff today as it did when we were a colony. The only difference is how it compares to our dollar. When we left the Gold Standard gold was 40 dollars a ounce since we print money based on nothing it has gone up a college study I can't remember the exact name and date, but it was close to 20 years ago found that if we had to go back on the gold standard to cover our currency then would put the price of gold at close to 3500 per ounce and we have printed many trillions more since then. In 1978 I made 8.50 a hour today I make 18.00 at a part time job I am lucky to have.here is a now verses then see if we are better off. I am sure I lost money in the deal.Gas was around .60 a gallon now pretty much 3.00smokes were .35 a pack now 6.00Gallon of milk .50 now 3.00a new ford f 150 3800.00 now 28000.00avg home 35000.00 now 150000.00Mc Donalds Hamburger .15 now .99In 1978 we had been off the gold standard roughly 15 years go back to the mid 50's when were on the gold standard and a avg home could be bought for 3000.00 to 5000.00 so a home could be bought with 75 to 80 ounce of gold. So if you take the same rough numbers forward to today it would make gold well over 2000.00 a ounce. My dad paid 1250.00 for the house and 2.5 acres with a garage that I was born in it was on the market a few years ago for 175000.00 and it sold. We sold it for 12,000.00 in 73 when we moved. In real world terms I made more money in 1978 than I do now.

JWheeler
This is a good one. While I am concerned about where we are headed, I don't think it is productive to dwell on where we've been. I think that the Government in general is screwed up from the presidency to the house the senate, on state levels and city levels and so on. It seems to me that regardless of being a Democrat or Republican that most politicians suck! How bad is it when you go to a pole to vote for one candidate just to take a vote away from another, that there is no clear choice for a good candidate. McCain wouldn't be doing any better then Obama, and don't misconstrue what I'm saying, cause obama's doing quite a bang up job in there. But apparently through the eyes of the people that are giving out nobel peace prizes he has done something Nobel, what I'm still trying to figure out. I think there is one thing that over the course of time that has been consistent, and that is consumption. Steadily has been on the rise since industrialization started. I wish gas was $1.00/gallon also, and a candy bar was .50, and a gallon of milk were $1.00, but they, and I mean producers, traders, have us up against the ropes. You want to pay $1.00/gallon of gas, then everybody needs to use less of it. It's simple supply and demand. There are ways to produce more of the things we need the most, but apparently someone has put up a road block. And in most instances it's someone with a heavily vested interest that stops increased production of such goods so they can obtain a premium for the good. In simple terms, they can beat us over the head, and we will still buy things because we need to. When will it ever stop? Never. I think that government has slipped away from it's intended purpose of being for the people by the people. It seems to me that most officials in government, especially higher ranking officials, come from money and power and have a skewed sense of what's in everybodies best interest. Years ago, like Dan said, none of this mattered to me, but as I grow older and am more aware of things that are going on in the world it chaps my ass. We have enough problems here on the homefront to take care of, but were spending billions of dollars on a war that is going no where. It just gets worse and worse as time goes on. :angry2: Just needed to vent...
