Low levels of radioactive tritium, not posing a health hazard, have been discovered in ground water at the shuttered Zion nuclear plant.

However, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission said it has collected samples of water from Lake Michigan and found no traces of the element, according to William Snell, senior health physicist at the commission. "We have conducted independent sampling of the water in the lake and found there was no level of tritium in the lake," he said.
