GLF Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Ontario boaters caught operating a vessel while drinking can now lose their motor vehicle driver’s licence. A private member’s bill, introduced at the provincial legislature by Liberal backbencher David Zimmer, passed without opposition Thursday and was signed into law immediately. “It was crucial to try and get this bill through this spring before we adjourned so it caught this summer’s boating season,†said Zimmer.http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1151057946856&call_pageid=968332188492&col=968793972154
Reg Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 This new law has now had its first test. A couple were boating in the Muskoka's in Ontario. The OPP pulled them over (after they did try to outrun them) and found they had open alcohol on board and no lifejackets. As well, both parties were both naked. hehehe. They were not charged for not having any clothes on, but were charged with having the alcohol. The driver of the boat, the female, has immediately had her drivers license suspended for 90 days. If convicted of the impaired charge, she will lose her drivers license for a year.
GLF Posted July 4, 2006 Author Posted July 4, 2006 If she did not have any clothes on, where did she have her license?
