blahblahduchunter Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 other temp and speed brands" what other brands are there out there for speed and temp sensors at the ball? i know of the moor speed troll, the fish hawk and the depth raider. which as i understand all require the coated cable. are there any brands out there that use a transducer to send the signal back and forth? besides the above mentioned three are there any out there that you guys really like? thanks for the input and help
mattmishler Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 the fish hawk dosent we have to x4 and really like and theres no cable to deal with.
2UNREEL Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Cannon has a model not sure but I think it uses a cable as well.
salmonquest Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 When the cannon is working it's great but the connections are suspect at best. I have to work that out.
Nailer Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Many consider the Fish Hawk x4 the best probe out there. They even say so themselves http://www.fishhawkelectronics.com/X4-Downrigger-System/26/They do not use coated wire. The one thing I like with the Cannon is, it tells the depth it's running at. Last weekend i let out 90-95'' on the counter, and the probe was running at 68'. It also has a light % at the ball, but they stopped making them.
Just Hook'n Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 The fish hawk is probably the easiest unit to set up, but as Nailer said it only provides speed and temp at the ball (no height indication). I use the new probe with the old base. It works very well compared to the older probes. The old probes ATE batteries and the new one goes almost 100 hours without changing. If you are getting a new one, I am super jealous. The new digital large number read out is awesome.
