2UNREEL Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 The day started pretty terrible and did not get a hit for the first few hours and loosing one board. We talked to about 5 other fisherman in the area and everyone seemed to be scattered and hunting as well. We picked up a laker and a few small kings and decided mid day to tool up for some steelies. We got a nice one in the boat and had a few more on for a couple seconds with no success. We then hooked a nice big king on the full core and lost it at the back of the boat in the death roll. We then proceeded to break a rod, run over alot of tackle and get the 7 color and board wrapped on one of the props and rudder. We then ran into the beach on the other motor and sent J1Musser diving under the boat to pull what was left out of the prop and rudder. Lures the worked: Silver Streak Purple Glo Tiger, Blueberry muffin, Steelie Stopmer. We ended the day:- 1 Laker- 1 Steelhead- 3 Kings- 2 Lost planer boards(1 was returned to me by Gary of Miss Vicki Charters!)- 1 broke rod
fishsniffer Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 very nice...love the silver streaks...some of my hottest lures

Thanks for the great trip Andy and Crew.
Priority1 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 GJ Andy and crew. Broken and lost gear is just part of the game.
GLF Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Nice job guys. I almost did the same thing on the P1 last year when the drift sock broked loose and the rope wrapped in the prop.
jsenske1 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Thanks for calling on Sat. Andy. We need to get toghether reel soon to fish! We hunted all day on Sat as well, Andy went North and I went South. Ended with a 19# king on green latter back-glow 150 copper, 9# laker on blue fairways fly-220' back and 9# king on green glow fly on rigger down 70'.
Adam Bomb Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Wow, thats sounds like an interesting day. Sorry to hear the gear got a little torqued up. Nice job on the fish and an atta boy to "Scuba Steve" for untangling the mess under the boat.

silver one Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Way to stick it out Andy and crew. My wife was not that patient. We ended up at the beach shortly after I talked to jarrod at 10:30. Sounds like all the fish were way north of were I was.
Just Hook'n Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Some of that stuff makes for great stories that you will never forget. The catching fish is the bonus. Way to go guys. Sounds like a mess but you avoided total disaster.
Moosky31 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Never a dull moment when your fishing. Good job on fishing on a hard day.
SUPERTRAMP Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Way to go finding the Steel Andy,we kinda just hung around and got the 3 kings but had the steel covered with the 4 color and 5 color but no takers. Funny I gotta believe that the Kings are gonna stage big time and Saturday was the first time since early July that I have marked any numbers of fish just hope they start to feed.Mike(Supertramp)
