Just Hook'n Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 OK, here we go. I think the fish are coming back, but only in certain spots, so maybe they are not back yet. Did catch some quality fish this weekend out of PS. Friday night fished with my father and a buddy trying to figure out where the fish were for the WMFL event on Sat. Found best fish in 85fow. We were able to land 3 for 4 with the big one getting away. Isn't that always the case. Fished 70-150. First fish in 150fow 6lb laker on the rigger 120 down with a 11" echip white with green fly. Next fish king shaker 120fow on 5 color with glo xmas. Next two fish was a FUN double. Landed the 12 lb king, lost the bigger one at the back of the boat. 80fow just as the sun touched the lake. Full core with moonshine white with 4 black dots, Rigger 60 down on that white 11" echip with green fly was the big one we lost after he got into the dipsey steel, untangled, near the net and ROLLED on us and darn near launched the paddle to the front of the boat. On well, 3 for 4 was better and we figured the fish are back (based on the nice size). Sat morning many teams had a better day in the WMFL event. We ended up with 4 for 5, two of which were about 15lb kings. Other two were a shaker and about a 6 pound fish. 85-110fow with 85 being the prime target. Our lost fish was on full core with a green ladder back ace high plug. Came back with nothing on it. No plug, Just a straight line. not even a squigly on the end due to a bad knot. What worked awesome was the green fly on the end of the 11" white echip on the rigger 60 down. That took our two big fish. the shaker was on 5 color with glo xmas. the 6 pounder was on the dipsey 150back on 2 with a green dolphin 8" echip with a green fly. All in all a pretty good day. Fished 4th for the day and overtook 1st for the season on the PS WMFL totals. Sunday I wanted to get out again because we seemed to have figured something out and the fish were back, or so I thought. BUMPY. AND WINDY. Started early 5 am at 50fow. Moved out to 85 fow where we were happy the last two days. Spent a lot of time there working the spread. FINALLY decided to move to 135 and found some fish. Ended up 3 for 6 with a mix of fish. Of course we missed the big one again. Ened up hitting a rigger on that same 11" echip white with green fly. Went all the way across to the other side dipsey. get this, rigger was 60 down, dipsey was 175 back. Slider on the rigger ended up in one of the swivels for the dipsey. So, the fish stopped spooling line at 250 on the counter. What are the odds of a fish hook going exactly though another on the other side of the boat 60ft down????? Anyway. Boxed a 13 lb king on the 11" echip white with green fly. Boxed a 7 lb ho on 3 color double orange crush. threw back a 17" laker on 5 color coytoe:confused:. Missed on a dipsey 150 back with yellow 8" echip and green/blu fly. missed on rigger (that big one). Missed a steelie right at end of trip on 5 color doing some arobatics way back. Greg, his son and a friend were on the bumpy ride Sunday. Thanks guys, it was awesome. All in all a pretty good weekend.
BIGTREBLE Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Sounds like a great weekend, hope the fish make it north by Friday Night. You did alot better then most that fished the Muskegon Tourny. Nice Work Mark.
Just Hook'n Posted July 13, 2009 Author Posted July 13, 2009 Thanks everyone. It was a pretty fun weekend now that SOME fish are back. Can't wait for it to get better. FYI, the eggs in the females are getting pretty big. Might be a early run.
