DKuiper Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Set up this AM in 50 FOW about a mile noth of piers to get away from the big pack of boats in the general area of the piers. 4 riggers from 12' to 45' down, the deepest ones with free sliders on. 2 dipsys on 3 and 1 1/2 back 140 and 100. One half core, one full core. Trolled slightly NW and when we got to 65 FOW started to mark some fish and lots of bait near or on bottom. Adjusted everthing to run a bit deeper. Had a couple of releases on one rigger that was set at 65'. Finally caught a laker on that rigger but it came on the free slider. Had a couple of rips on the half core. Caught a 14# king off the full core with a ivory/red spot magnum spoon. Caught another king off the other rigger at 60' with a free slider, fish coming on the slider. Had the other two riggers running at 25 and 35'. Never took a hit on those. Had one rip on a dipsy with Spin/Doc/fly. Finally pulled both dipsys and put out another full core and a half core. Took a twin to the first 14# king on the same rig. I think we went 4 or 7 or 8. Boats that stayed in the 50' range seemed to do better. Came home with fish in the box and a tired crew. Nice day even if we did not kill 'em. Fog came on about 10 AM thick as pea soup!Duane
Priority1 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Duane, It was a nice day to be on the water. I'm glad you got some fish.
