Cast-a-Way Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Hi Guy's and Gal's I am kinda new to salmon (only 3rd year) fishing and kinda wasted last year rebuilding my boat I was wondering if you had any advice for me as far as how early I can start targeting salmon out of henderson ny ???are the temp ranges the same in the spring for salmon or are they more unpredictable ??Thank you in advance I am just trying to have the boat ready and rigged up to get out there !!
Yankee Troller Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 That's a tough area to target Salmon in. Last year you didn't miss much! Usually some will show up in July. Your August and September are really the months you want to target Salmon though. If you want Salmon as early as May head over to the Niagara bar and whack as many as you want!In the mean time you guys can go out and load up on the BT,
Cast-a-Way Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 Thank you for the reply Maybe worth the drive for me to go to the Niagara region for a trip !! Could make a combo vacation for the kids and dad !!!:D
Yankee Troller Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 If you haven't experienced Niagara Bar fishing during May you haven't lived! 30 fish days are common with 15-20 fish days almost a daily thing.
Cast-a-Way Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 HI Yankee Troller Any recommendations as to whatharbour to launch out of ?Places to stay ?I am about 4 hours from rochester NY.Thank you so much for the info ! Greatly appreciated
Yankee Troller Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Launch out of Fort Niagara. Check my website under Accommodations or places to stay for hotels in that area.
fenceman2ac Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Yankeee is so right if you haven't been to the bar in the spring you haven't lived.Just go straight out of the river & when you get to the red can go a little fartrher & then go east (unless you have a canadian liscense)
