The ice on our lake here is breaking up today. It was a nice ice fishing season this year but I'm so glad to see it go.

When I woke up, I noticed a small hole about 20 ft around had opened up near a shallow bar. All morning long it got bigger and then another small seam opened up near our house. The ice really melted away mid day and the holes grew and now more than half the lake is open water. Hopefully a wind shift this evening will take out the shelf ice near me and open everything up by morning. This is the fastest I've ever seen the lake open up.

We just had a flock of goldeneyes land in and some seagulls and a bunch of geese showed up too. It didn't take them long to find open water.

How is the ice holding up or going out near you?

Went around yesterday to check local lakes around Kzoo. Only Austin and West Lake were open. Open spots in others but still lots of ice around them.

Took the Nee Hi out for a little venture today at Austin Lake just to make sure everything was running good and get a little cruise in. Water was 38 degrees. Trolled a few stickbaits for a little bit with no takers. Glad to see open water as welll as a guy i talked to that was launching as i was loading up. Felt great to be cruising wide open on open water!!!:)

I found your ice. Seems about 100 tons of it or more went through many walls and windows of the home owners residences at Linwwod beach last night on Saginaw Bay. The noon news showed some pretty ugly pictures of those shore side homes wraped in ice chunks.:eek:

Pine Creek by my house opened up on Friday.

Hey Frank(Priority1)....hows the ice around your house? Hope all is well.

The story on Linwood was on Fox News tonight. I would have like to been near by to watch that slab come crashing in and piling up.

More Ice pics. These shots were near the Old Pt. AuGres Hotel. I estimated the height at 35+ ft. Those are 6 foot adults on the pile. I took the pics about 7 PM today.

That is amazing! We get those mounds of ice up north here as well, but it happens in areas where there isn't any homes. Glad nobody was hurt!

This sure has been a year of extremes so far. I live near the kalamazoo river and its over its banks pretty good right now. Alot of puddling in fields and yards also.

A tree farm I drive by on my way to work half the field is under water. It just wont drain. The aquifers must be as full as they can get.

We get another major rain event come through and were going to be in real trouble.

My Twin Sump Pumps are turning on every 10 minutes, empting the crocks right down the the sand, as the water poors in from the tubes, and it's not even spring time.

Oh I have a 183 year old farm house with 22 inche this Rock wall foundation. And still I get water through the walls into the basement, no matter what we do.
