Fishwhisperer Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 With spring just around the corner, let's here what your best/favorite Brown bait is. I don't have much luck with the body baits for Browns, so mine would have to be a Monkey Puke spoon.
DIRTY DOG Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 j-9 rapela in black and silver or fire tiger ,or a bumble bee stinger, it is a toss up between the three i cought browns up to 11 lbs on the rapelas but my personal best is a 17.9 lb'er on the bumble bee stinger
1mainiac Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Rapela or Husky Jerk color depends on day I also like Hot N Tots
Priority1 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Small spoons, or silver and black, silver and blue minnow imitators. Those hungry browns are looking for a smelt dinner.
HitMan Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 1) Green Dolphin Scorpion Stinger2) Black/Gold Size 11 Floating Rapala3) Orange/Gold Size 11 Floating Rapala4) Holly Christmas Scorpion Stinger5) Golden Shiner Scorpion Stinger (Gold Blade)6) Perch Scorpion Stinger (Gold Blade)
Mark Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 My best have been Back/silver X raps and mag rogues, black/orange. Do you run spoons clean, inline weight, or rigger?
Billy V Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 We've had tremendous luck with Dave's KA-BOOM baits for browns: The Goby pattern was especially good for us last April!
Yankee Troller Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I'm sorry but this forum is called the "Salmon Pro's Connection." I don't think the word Brown Trout should be allowed in here! Last year when I was forced to fish for those speckled trout at the Sodus Pro-Am I had really good luck on a Stinger Penguin pattern.
slipknot Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 In dirty water I like Smithwicks and Rapalas in yellow, orange or a combination there-of.In clear water, Scorpions and Jake 45s have worked well in assorted colors.
Alessandro Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 One of my favorites are a Swedish plug named Vicke, 3/4 ounce is the weight I usehttp://www.sportfiskeguiden.se/index.php?cPath=64_65_66
S. Yonker Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Hammered silver Jr. Flutter Devle with a black edge on a 1 color is my bread/butter brown rig.
Nucleus Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 One of my favorites are a Swedish plug named Vicke, 3/4 ounce is the weight I usehttp://www.sportfiskeguiden.se/index.php?cPath=64_65_66Thats one of my favourites too, but I mainly use it on the Baltic sea, Sea trout (Salmo trutta trutta). The browns in our big lakes seems to enjoy the sight and taste :-) of a 3" or 4" Tomic, Bomber Long 15a, and some handmade finnish cranks named "Lappia".Hello Allessandro, it is Kjelle from Scandinavian Trolling :-)Cheers.Kjell
