fishsniffer Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 do you guys prefer the larger or smaller flashers.i believe 11 in versus 8 in.
bluedevil Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 The big white hoochies have been really good to me the last few years. I almost always have a couple on my outside riggers. I will use the 8" in early spring though. I have used the large Kingfisher flashers also and have caught fish on them but to be honest I don't give them enough chance to prove themselves. To much faith in the hoochies..
Blue Knight Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Over the years that I've been running Hot Spot flashers, only 3 seasons has an 8" & fly beat out the 11" Hot Spot & cut bait. There may be a problem getting cut bait this coming season but I'm going to run a Howie fly or hoochie behind the 11". Out in BC I never saw a boat using an 8", they all run 11" with a hoochie or fly.
2UNREEL Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I mainly use the 8" spin doctors. I will be doing alot with various sizes and shapes of flashers this year. Seems like every time I tryed one of the big pro troll paddle types I got tangles so I stuck with what worked for me.
1mainiac Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 mostly 8in for me until they stop being my most productive setup I will not change
DIRTY DOG Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 i run a mix of 8 and 11's ,but normaly , i run 4's and 8's from april to june and then 8's and 11's from june thru octand the 8's are on the hi side and the larger one are the deeper ones
Fishwhisperer Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I only have one 11" SD. It was very productive two years ago. The rest of mine are mostly 8" SD. I have found the the 11" will not fit into my 8" box.
GLF Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I run the Protroll prochip 8's and hotchip 11's. Some days the 8" is hot, and others the 11" is hot. On average, I would say they catch an equal number of fish.
GUN Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 8" Flashers up hi and the Big 11" Monsters down deep. This is effective most of the time although things can change fast. See what they like and adapt.GUN
Priority1 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 8" Flashers up hi and the Big 11" Monsters down deep. This is effective most of the time although things can change fast. See what they like and adapt.GUN What he said. Find out what they want, and give em lots of it.
SkeinMachine Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 8" Flashers up hi and the Big 11" Monsters down deep. This is effective most of the time although things can change fast. See what they like and adapt.GUNAgree with Phil,11 inchers when down deep(below 90 ft),8 inchers above that.
HitMan Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Big 11 inch Pro-Troll HotChips when the water warms and for down deep and also in the fall in front of the piers in the mud. Some days 5 rods in the water, with 5 11 inch HotChips in the water and many people won't use them there. Otherwise, 8 inchers do the job most of the year.
j1musser Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Never even fished with an 11" flasher. dont own one but might pick up 1 or 2 for running deep on wire dipsy or rigger. Any particular colors better as it seems most are running these quite deep compared to 8" flashers? Always something new to try.:D

ironman Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 The 11in. Chrome down deep with a green hypnotist fly has been a stud for us. This has been a big fish combo for Kings and the occasional Laker.Matt
dave125 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 smaller flashers during the summer months....bigger flashers for staging kings
