Nucleus Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Here is some pictures of my 1998 Cobia 230WA, that i imported from the US last year. this thread contains loads of pictures, from when i bought it, and all the way during repowering and rigging, till a test ride at the twenty seventh of December. My almost two year old daughter on her first boat trip. Time for re-powering and rigging for som Baltic sea trolling: The boat is all too big for my garage, so i used a tent as shelter for sun and rain. Off the Yammmy goes. New Sukiz is being mounted. Almost done. Time for some serious fishing!!! [color:yellow]Even tho we didnt get any fish :-( four electric downrigger, just waiting for tha big ones................. Targa arch, ten rods rigged with Northern King spoons. Fully loaded boat. Here is a Baltic sea salmon i caught trolling from a friends boat. Here is a picture of a salmon i caught last spring. Fish on all of ya. Nucleus

Nucleus Posted January 22, 2009 Author Posted January 22, 2009 Wow! Sweet boat! Awesome fish! Is that an atlantic salmon?Hi and thanks.Yes Salmo salar, aka atlantic salmon.Kjell
GLF Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Thats a sweet looking rig you have. Did you do the engine swap yourself? Did you do all the rigging? It wont be long and you will be yelling "Fish On"! Somewhere's on the site is the "fish on" song. You will have to get it and put it on a cd so you can play it on the lake.
Paulywood Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Nice boat! Great job on the rigging and repower. It looks like you have done a first rate job. Maybe you can explain how you troll in the sea over there. What depths, temps and any other info. Welcome to the site and good luck with your fishing.Nick
spoonmaster Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Great boat, and nice job on the re-power.Nice Atlantic, don't see many of those around here!!!!!Al

Line Dancin Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Very nice rig, and nice job on resetting it up. I do have a question for ya,I dont see many rod holder on the side. Do you guys over there use many boards and lead core or copper, or many diver rigs.I love the radar arch i was thinking of adding one, that could give me a place for three more holders.

Even when trolling dipsys we use either the down rigger rod holders or the flush mounted ones for the DD rods.I have not seen the adjustable type rod holders that you use for the DD rods, but i understand the thought of getting the rod tip closer to the surface. The higher above the surface the tip is, the more line you have to add to get down to the same depth as a rod with tip close to surface.Glad you like the radar arch, it was me and a buddy who made and welding it together./Kjell
Priority1 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Kjell, Most of us run our Diver Rods pointed out to the side and almost parallel to the water. I sometimes run my high diver in the lowest holder on my bird trees.
slipknot Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Very nice boat! With the twin engines, do you need to throw out "bags" or does it troll slow enough just the way it is?? Glad to see that folks across the ocean are enjoying the same love of fishing. Keep the stories and pics coming, please.
Nucleus Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 Thanks alot!No need for drift socks, maybe if I shall use Anchovy special and troll one knot. With planer boards in the sea and all four downriggers in the water, my lowest speed is approx 1.3 knots.I am a high speed troller so nemas problemas here./Kjell
slipknot Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Wow. I'm surprised the twin outboards will troll that slow... Thats' great!
Priority1 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Wow. I'm surprised the twin outboards will troll that slow... Thats' great! Probably only spinning one of those props while trolling.
Nucleus Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 Probably only spinning one of those props while trolling. Yes and the other one shut off, in gear and still in the water.
slipknot Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Yes and the other one shut off, in gear and still in the water.Aaah... that makes sense. I was wondering how you'd be able to slow it down to 1.3 even with only one motor running... the drag of the second motor is the key. Got it. Thanks.
Nucleus Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 yes but not only the drag of the engine. When launching my planner boards and downrigger i decrease my trolling speed by one knot.I use a Swedish special designed planer boards called TL-Power planer, these ones create a drag on the planer line close to 30lb. This is planer boards that look alot like Big Jon otter boards.
