mattmishler Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 i was looking to to a ice shelter i was looking at a fra bill im thing of spending up to 250 what is your guys imput in it
JWheeler Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 If you can find a quick flip over that's the way I would go. Much more portable. I have a frabill hideout, and I love it, but when making long moves I have to break it down and set back up. I'm not lazy, but sometimes it just seems to be rather tiring when you're out for a long day. I did see on another site a nice clam flip over one man for $100, wish I had the extra $$$$ I would buy it. Don't skimp, buy what you want one time and take care of it and it will last you a long time. MY frabill is 5 years old and in good-excellent condition....http://www.franksgreatoutdoors.com/ice-fishing/ice-shantiesaccessories/clam/fish-trap-guide.htmlOnly a hundred more, but I would go with something like this...or the frabill....http://www.franksgreatoutdoors.com/catalog/product/view/id/61077/category/4741/
tltorrice Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I bought a Shapell a few years ago and it is a pain to put up in the wind. I would have rather had a flip up type.
SkeinMachine Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Had a FishTrap Guide 2 man flip up model the last several years, worth every cent. They cost more than other models, but the ice armour material makes up for it in comfort(repells the cold, keeps heat in).Plus only takes 30 seconds to set up(with snowmobile mitts on).Flip up huts are a must for the run/gun ice angler.
