Just Hook'n Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Went out Saturday morning early. Got lines wet by 5:00am and by 7 we were out to about 120fow. All of a sudden the lights start to go dim. Hmmmmmm. Alternator went bad on us. So, we went back in and by 11 we had a new one on. Well, still a nice day and plenty of fishing still left, so we went back out. We had great temperature at the balls 47-50 degrees 50 down just north of channel. Marked a lot of fish withing 20 feet of the bottom, but could not get anything to hit. We went from 130fow back in to 70fow, back out to 200fow and finally picked up a single Steelhead on 3 color with a Stinger Glo Lemon spoon, which we had left up high just in case a Steelhead wanted to get frisky. So, at least we did not get skunked. Now that the alternator is kicking out 13.5 (as oppsed to the 11 we were getting in the morning) the boat is running great and I am looking forward to the spring.
Priority1 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 At least you got the Steelie, and the boat will be ready to rock next year. I had alternator problems last year.
GLF Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Nice job Mark! I had alternator problems last year also.
Just Hook'n Posted October 9, 2008 Author Posted October 9, 2008 For new parts on the boat, I was pretty happy that 1. they had it in stock and 2. it was only about 225 which is not bad for what it gets you. All in all, I was just happy to get back out on the water on such a beautiful day.

I was lucky to find a new Delco for mine, on line for about $80 including shipping. Marine stuff is expensive. http://www.db-starter-alternator.com/
