Storm Warning II Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Fished Wed. pm and marked a great number of fish NE of Conneaut along the PA line, just north of the perch pack in 66 to 72 fow. Fished them for 3 1/2 hrs. solid with countless different directional passes, countless different down speeds, countless different bait offerings and 1 22" 'eye to show for it. Low and behold, checked the 'net reports on a variety of sites Thurs pm and found that we were not alone. Many reports of lots of good marks and very, very few fish...Full Moon?Water too warm?
Walleye Express Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 We run into the same thing occassionally on the Saginaw Bay. Only thing I've ever had luck with when this happens is L.O.N.G. leads and F.A.S.T. trolling speeds. My best method so far during this kind of funk has been using Rattle Tots 180 back with a 1/4 crawler on the belly hook and trolling at 2.6 or faster. And remember Saginaw Bay is only 26 feet deep in the deeper places I personally fish it. So God only knows if that distence back would accomplish the same visual and strike trigger for you in deeper waters. Good luck and refreshing to see truthfull bad reports when they happen as well as the good ones.
