  1. How's everyones fall going? Its that time of year where I'm locked in the edit studio editing away on Salmon Showdown. Heres a first look at the new season. bbSKNB11N80 We also have set up a Facebook page and will be adding more content there leading up to Season 6's airing. We're currently locking down the exact air times. www.facebook.com/salmonshowdown If you have any questions or comments. Scott and I would love to hear them. Thanks for watching,
  2. Hi All I am seeking a few recruits to test some of my LureCharge products while ice fishing. I live on the west coast where the only ice is in the freezer. I would like to assist about 10 volunteers in 'voltage tuning' their own lures with some of my products and/or send some of my own spoons. Don't laugh, skeptics. I can make one of two identical lures catch about 80% of the fish when trolled 16' apart. I would like a cross section of anglers who go after different species and use different setups. This is still a learning curve for me. To this point, I haven't found a style of lure that I can't tune to some degree, including flies with stainless or nickel hooks. I would like to do an info share on this link so as to be completely transparent and above board. We can do address info later via PM, email, or through a moderator. Thanks Al Dampier www.lurecharge.com
  3. pBdQAChSB28 Hi folks, I've watched and enjoyed shows like the Salmon Showdown and thought that I must get into some Great Lakes forum and learn some more. This post however shows a 10 minutes compilation videon from our salmon fishing outside Stockholm in Sweden, June 2014. Some speech is in swedish though. A special kind of fishing on migrating salmon with a really high average weight (roughly 20lb) but few numbers. A salmon a day is good! Top fish in the video is 18,4kg/40lb 9 ounces i think. So, not a Great lakes video but always nice with some perspective and learn some more. Thats why I'm here! =)
  4. Mike Marsh's (Patented) scent head trolling flies. Now you can finally add your favorite scent to the fly without it washing off the very second you put it in the lake. Mike's Flies look better, have better action, and they taste better, Get Some! And become a part of the food chain! REMEMBER, Everything else is just tinsel and a hook. Price per fly $8.00 Meat Rigs are $12.00 (231)-920-7527. You can see my colors and flies with paddles at Lake Michigan Trolling Flies facebook page.
  5. Up for sale is my 1988 Baha Cruisers Weekender 280, I currently operate this boat as a fishing charter boat in Ludington,Mi. This boat is very nice for a 26yr old sporttrolling boat. Asking $16000 but am willing to entertain any offers. I have owned the boat since the spring of 2005,prior to that it was a Lake Erie fishing boat, non charter. I purchased the boat the spring of 2005,the place of purchase was Happy Days boating, the boat had the stringers replaced spring of 2005 as well by Happy Days boating. The boat has always been professionally maintained by Johnson's Supreme Marine in Ludington,Mi since I owned the boat, always stored inside, tune ups every spring, several oil changes each summer. This boat has always treated me very well, runs great....and fishes AWESOME !! Reason for selling...I'm looking at buying a new boat. This boat needs nothing. Just add your fishing gear and you are ready to go! This is a great big water boat, the Baha's are well known for their super stable fishing platform. This is a great affordable boat Salmon, trout and walleye fishing on the great lakes. 6. Here is a summary of our trips on 8/3 PM & 8/4 AM All in all had a couple of nice trips. Had some good action on both trips. Picked up a 25 lber on SAT night that was right at dark, ended making a mess out of my full core that took me half of sun AM trip to get fixed. Once I was able to get the 10 back in the water, it fired with a 10 pound laker. First one of the season! However all in all it was a good weekend! 5 for 7 on SAT evening & 6-8 on sun morning Here is the bait list: PM 8/3/2013 HITS RIGS BAIT 0-0 3 COLOR misc spoons 0-0 4 COLOR misc spoons 1-1 6 COLOR happee meal <----7 # rainbow 1-1 7 COLOR burnt toast <---- 9# king 0-1 10 COLOR v-neck 0-0 PORT DIPSY flasher fly 1-2 STAR DIPSY flasher fly <----6# king 1-1 SWR RIGGER hot lips <---- 8# king 1-1 MONO RIGGER bad toad <---- 25 # king 5-7 TOTAL ------------------------------------------- AM 8/4/2013 HITS RIGS BAIT 0-0 3 COLOR misc spoons 0-0 4 COLOR misc spoons 1-1 6 COLOR grean jean <---- 9# king 0-0 7 COLOR misc spoons 1-1 10 COLOR blue/purp dream weaver <----this was a laker about 10 pounds..first one of the season 0-1 PORT DIPSY flasher fly 1-2 STAR DIPSY flasher fly <---- 16# king 1-1 SWR RIGGER hot lips <---- 12# king 2-2 MONO RIGGER bad toad <---- 20# & 21# King 6-8 TOTAL
  7. Hey I am new to the site. Fishing out of Manitoulin island. Just getting the big boat ready for the year. I Usually do not start fishing the big water until late june or July. What works for everyone this time of year? Temp, speed, depth, lure selection/size. Ports of choice: Providence bay and Meldrum bay
  8. I have been wondering about the dive curve on Dipseys. According to the dive charts a #1 dipsey set to 3 has a max depth of 50' with 142' of line out. I see and hear guys running line out to 240 and farther. To me, once the diver reaches that apex and you let more line out it will begin to run shallower. Are you doing this to get it away from the boat or is there more to it that I am not aware of? Ironically, It's been a hot setup in my boat to run it at 142' out with a flasher fly running @ 2.5. I know it is running very close to 40' - 45'. and can place more lines in this zone. By letting it out farther it may catch fish, but I have no idea where it is in the column. Any thoughts on this?
  9. I am selling a 1977 28ft fly bridge silverton with 5 electric big jon downrigger's and 2 14ft out rigger poles perfect salmon boat set up for the big lake, all new canvas in 2007, Lowrance gps/fishfinder, boat was stored and maintained by barretts marina in spring lake, used it this spring but decided to upgrade, boat is in good shape for the year, but does have engine trouble, oil pump is what I was told but, to someone who knows about engines it could be a breeze. I also have a tri-@axle trailer that fits the boat as well, but it is sold separate. If interested PM me thanks for looking
  10. Fished AM trips both Sat & Sun this weekend. The average for most people fishing were somewhere between 1 to 3 fish per boat...with a couple people being a little above that # and some people getting skunked. This is from my conversations with other fisherman at the cleaning station. Here is my report from both trips SAT 8/4/12 Ended up being 3 for 5 I wasnt too happy about this number considering we were in the fish then a couple of boat pushed us out of the depth we were in which blew us over the fish. By the time we got back to the depth we wanted, the bite was over. Did pick up a RAINBOW that was 84' down on the rigger. We could have limited i think, however the wind was picking up and we were already over 7 miles from the harbor and pulled lines at 9 to make it back somewhat early.
