  1. As always I'm leaning on you guys for help. I have managed to have a free weekend and would love to get on big water one more time. Would love to chase steelies, browns maybe salmon. I was thinking Holland but willing to travel. Any ideas where to start? What do I use? Or should I grab the aluminum boat and hit the rivers? Thanks again to everyone in here that shares info and knowledge!
  2. Fished AM trips both Sat & Sun this weekend. The average for most people fishing were somewhere between 1 to 3 fish per boat...with a couple people being a little above that # and some people getting skunked. This is from my conversations with other fisherman at the cleaning station. Here is my report from both trips SAT 8/4/12 Ended up being 3 for 5 I wasnt too happy about this number considering we were in the fish then a couple of boat pushed us out of the depth we were in which blew us over the fish. By the time we got back to the depth we wanted, the bite was over. Did pick up a RAINBOW that was 84' down on the rigger. HITS RIGS BAIT 0-0 3 COLOR 0-0 4 COLOR 0-0 6 COLOR 0-0 7 COLOR 0-0 10 COLOR 0-0 PORT DIPSY F/F 0-1 STAR DIPSY F/F 111 LOC 2-2 SWR RIGGER Mag Bloody Nose 1-1 MONO RIGGER blue green pk spoon 82' down RAINBOW 0-1 MONO RIGGER Flasher./fly 0-1 104' down SUN 8/5/12 sunday was a different story, we ended up staying on the fish and ended up a little shy of our limit. We could have limited i think, however the wind was picking up and we were already over 7 miles from the harbor and pulled lines at 9 to make it back somewhat early. Here is the break down HITS RIGS BAIT 0-0 3 COLOR 2-2 4 COLOR MS Crabface & Spitfire 0-0 6 COLOR proking misc spoons 2-4 7 COLOR Orange Flounder 3-3 10 COLOR Happee Meal 2-5 PORT WIRE DIPSY F/F 130LOC 2-2 STAR DIPSY F/F 115 LOC 1-1 SWR RIGGER Mag Bloody Nose 61' 0-0 MONO RIGGER Tried everything and couldnt get anything to fire on this one. ended up 12 - 17 With 5 kings that were over 15 lbs. 1 rainbow 3 cohos 8 kings Basically it was a huge cooler that was almost to the point of not closing. Great morning to say the least.
  3. Holy Cow !!! ...... We got out at 5am headed out to 300 just south of the harbor. Landed one big bow on a brand new blueberry muffin, his was so intent on getting off he curled the spoon in half. Cruised around 300 for a while and ran into sea fleas on the lines, those are a slimy pain. Not much going on out there other than the fleas so we ran into 180 a few miles north of the harbor. Three line set and things started poping fast. We had a hard time getting the all the lines set. After 3 fish we finally got all 9 set. We had several fire drills today....3 doubles and almost a quad. What a blast. We stayed in the 180' to 160' range trolling north mostly and following a scum line of algae covered alewifes. 2,3,5, and 7 color all getting action even the flat line 150 yards out the chute got one. Monkey puke, rotten banana, orange with orange ladder back, green dolphin were the hot spoons. 47' on one rigger 38' on the other and running 90' and 105' feet off the ball. Dipsey rods 100' and 140' foc with a #2 set on the dial. Green coyote dodger and green fly had multiple fish. Once again Brads cut bait plugs was our work horses for today. Silver and metalic blue cbp behind an all silver dodger and the wonder bread dodger with wonder bread cbp. Tuna in oil and garlic is down right deadly on these fish. The bows put on quite a show for us today, at least a dozen of them thought they could be part of the air show in Milwaukee. One big bow cleared over 6 feet of air dragging a 8'' dodger and fly, he spit it right at the top. It was awesome!! In the end we had over 40 hits and landed 20 fish, including 3 shakers that I was able to catch before they were dead and the last fish of the limit came as a double. One more as we were picking up the lines. Got them back in quick and happy. Keep your hook in the water! Mushys Dad 63 fish in the box on 11 trips this year! I have very happy neighbors
  4. Fished from early light until 2 pm. 6 for 10 plus 2 shakers and 3 drivebys. We set up in 80 feet and worked out to 120 found all of our action around 80 to 90 just north of the harbor. Our shining stars for today..... Brads cut bait plug stuffed with tuna and garlic. One was a wonder bread with a wonder bread 8' dodge and the other one was a silver and metallic blue with a silver dodger, these two took the most of the fish today 4 and 2 respectively. A mountain dew flasher and matching fly hooked up with one. A white coyote with lbb fly running on a 7 color on a planner board took one and a driveby. I was very successful at beating the 2nd fish with the net. The brads cut bait plug was hot all day especially when the sun was at high noon. Ended up with 2 hos 3 kings and a grease ball. Biggest fish was a 13 lb King. I used the tips from the tough day thread and we got some things going. Thanks to all who posted tips in that thread. GOOD STUFF:thumb: On a side note I meet up with a couple of old duffers that limited out today with 10 big fish. VERY TIGHT LIPPED those old farts are. Said they were out really deep and and took and hour to get back in. I saw them coming in from the north as we were pulling in too. I think they were out to 350 or better. Started asking about colors and lures and such......and they played deaf and walked away. Oh well ! Good luck and tight lines!
