Killin' It

TGA fish.. I am going to fish around Holland or Saugatuck during the week. Prolly midnight till 3 am in front of the pier heads. OUTSIDE of casting range of the pier. I was just digging through the pier stuff to see what all I had that might work.

What kind of changes do you make when you fish in close, vs out deep. I have noticed alot of guys use Jplugs, but what about thundersticks, j-13, Ping A Tee's ect.

So Jimmy, Your saying I need to run the spoons at 2.5 or better for best results? Just asking because I have put them down a bunch this summer with nothing going. I run alot of 2.0 to 2.3 or 3.0 because the kicker motor needs some work. I have alot of issue staying at that 2.5 range

Alex and I could not get anything to go this morning. "10 inch Blue killer w/ UV tape/ blue dolphin fly" Do you have a picture or brand of who makes this. I need to add another Blue set up to the boat.

we fished 5 am till 8:30 ... the big waves scared me and the crew off the lake... Nice boat ride however.

I am headed out to fish Friday morning out of Holland. If your out give me a shout on the Radio on 68. I want to make sure the new radio works well as well as I am taking my boss fishing so any help getting on some fish would be great. Anyone else going out?

Anyone do any of this? I really want to get into making my own flies, because it could be fun and give me something to do over the winter when I am not steelie fishing. My wife said she wants to catch a fish on a lure she made. I would love to sit down for a few hours with someone that knows what they are doing and give me a run down. I would be more then willing to pay for any of the components I use. Also... I am looking to paint/airbrush some of my own spoons or get a handful painted. Any Ideas of who to talk too? I have done alot with tapes and such but its just not the same. Dave

Tuesday Night... Someone asked the guy across the cleaning table if they were on the net and brought up the GLF site. I wanted to pitch in but the grill hurt to much with the stitches.

Dirty Dog was it you at the cleaning station with the "Stinger" hat on. I was with my buddy who was cleaning the fish... (I didnt have much to say as my mouth was sore from the Oral Surgeon)

I heard a rumor that some fish are starting to show up at Grand Haven. A couple friends hit a few steel in the past few days as well as seen a nice silver king get landed.

Fished 65-130 mostly 2-3 both shakers 2 hits on a 10" SD blue/chrome W/ Big weenie Bush lite fly One on a rigger 95 down in 100 FOW (fish landed) 130 back on a braid diver set to 2 in 90 FOW(fish lost) Double Trouble moonshine 88 down in 114 FOW. Lots of nasty current but did find some cold water south of Holland with some big schools of bait as we were pulling lines.

My knifes always travel in the trunk of the car or in the back of the truck. When they are in the boat they are in front of the cooler in the storage area. When approched by any CO/Officer I let them know what and were they are located. I would rather them know then to for them to have to find out.

Big Weenie flies have done well for me this year.

heck I had a good time anyway... Wife let me get a new rigger rod and a new diver rod today;) The fishing is what makes me happy the catching is just the added bonus.

Took a quick trip tonight as the lake seemed to lay down for a bit. Fished for around 3 hours before the waves got to big for the little boat. 0-0 Only thing to talk about today was the fact that the rigger tip snapped while it was in the release.... interesting noise that was... got all the gear back too;) worked 85-100 range and marked alot just no takers

Have fun!!! I forgot what having fun was all about for a long time of combat fishing. A nice calm day on the lake with a box of doughnuts can not be beat!

Here is a picture of the boat... with some gear on her... Wife said scooby snacks could not be the name lol.... It reminded her of the lonley nights she spent at home when I was after kings on the pier.... New boat name to come lol

I saw the dodger picture and that is got me thinking. I just did not know what kind of effect that SD would have on the spoon. Being new to fishing kings I do not have alot of gear on the new boat so I did not want to loose/ tangle a bunch up trying something, when I could just ask:)

Would it work... ??? I am sure someone has tried it.... Running a SD with a spoon in back? Maybe J plugs? Meat rigs.... Does the artificial "meat" work that you dip in herring oil? Sorry for the silly questions just had it on my mind since I could not fish this morning.

What does everyone use to store extra flies?
