Nice Job Jimmy! -
How many of you change out all the hooks on your spoons when they come out of the package? I have lost a handfull of fish this year, because the hooks did not get a good hold.

Anyone have them? \I know Mark R. book has them in it, but I would rather spend 40 bucks in lures, if someone wanted to share their book. I was building a dive chart in word for everyone as I have nothing better to do here on the couch. I know the back of the package has a chart but that does not count for braid. Dave

Summer Night bite ( I am a pro at this one being a former full time pier guy) With the boat, I try to get out by 6 or 7 pm. if I am fishing with other non dedicated fishers. If I am fishing with one of my full time crew I try to get out by 5 pm to avoid the hastle at the launch. Now to the nitty gritty. Getting out at 7 I tend to head past the area I want to fish at dark. If I want to be in 70 FOW at sunset I will run out to 120 or so and fish deep working my way back to the water I want. I will start with my normal day program, with not alot of super glows. Examples would be: 250 copper Watermelon J plug/ Bloody nose mag DW 300 copper MS Silver Flounder 350 copper DW Green Yellow Target tip 10" Blue silver spin doctor with a BW bushlight fly 8" (Name hot flasher fly combo of the week) Rigger Double Trouble Moonshine Rigger Flinstone Monica 5 color Mixed veggie 8 color green dolphin/ Blue Dolphin About an hour before the sun goes down, out come the moonshines/glow spoons/flashers 250 copper MJ glow MAG 300 Flounder Pounder 350 Blue Flounder Diver glow/black spin doctor with black/silver glow fly 10" Blue silver spin doctor with a BW bushlight fly Rigger Double trouble Rigger DW glow w/ pink dots 5 color Nitro stinger blue berry muffin 8 color Bloody nose DW Generally you can get the fish the first hour or 2 of dark then I have noticed they will shut off till around midnight. After midnight the same spread as right before dark. Don't run all glow in the dark they can see just fine;) This year I will be running Brads cut plugs in the spread as well, they have half glow on the bottom or full glow. Being a second shifter I take my time getting out of work go home load up the boat and get on the water about 2:30 or 3 and you can clobber them some days. When fishing kings off the pier our best time use to be from Midnight till 3 am. It was nice to be walking off the pier at 4 with a limit beforeanyone showed up:) Basic advice out of this ramble is: The higher the sun is UP the farther DOWN you want to fish. As the sun goes down your lures should come UP

I will have that project list done by tonight. I will be back on the water in a week. I may not be fighting fish, but I will be driving and watching people catch fish:)

My .02 is that floro is no joke. I know a few years back when I went to 100% floro for fishing bait in the surf and rivers my hit rate when up. I would fish it next to my father in law who said I was full of a bunch of #$% and would outfish him 2-1 using the same spawn and set ups - the floro. Needless to say he uses the floro now. I use the 100% floro from Berkley I also have some leaders tied in Gamma that buddy tied for me because he swears by the stuff. Floro I like 100% Floro by berkley- it comes in the gold box 300 feet for 20 bucks Gamma - It seems to work, but not worth the price Floro I don't like P-line- I could not get good knots or strenght out of it. I know some guys love it.. .not me Vanish by berkley .... is just garbage. Has anyone used the Cabalas brand lines or Vicious http://www.vicious-fishing.com/vicious-fishing-line/pro-elite-fluorocarbon-fishing-line.html

Went under the knife yesterday!!! I am home safe and doing well.... sore, but well! I might as well get something done the next few days to make my next trip on the lake a great one So here is my list of projects: -Change out the hooks on all my spoons to Owners -Finish tying leaders for my Brad's cut plugs in 20 pound floro for riggers and 30 pound for in back of paddels and spinnies -Name the boat -Design a way to keep all my brads cut plugs w/ leaders - Add more pictures to my Trophy room - Set up my 300 and 350 copper -Tie 50 hair rigs for fishing carp. (If anyone ever wants to get out and hook up with the golden ghost let me know. The bite is starting to turn on, I had a buddy land a 27 and a 28 pound fish yesterday. He also caught many other 10# plus fish. If your looking to get a kid onto some fish this is a great way to do so, and its alot of fun, If you loose one you loose one... oh well. - More to come.... I will be adding some pictures as well, this is my way of keeping my sanity during this down time.

Does anyone use it? If so how do you connect it. I used small ball berring swivels this spring for browns/steelies and then 8-9 foot of floro then a torpedo snap. I was thinking of running the same set up as this spring witha torpedo ball berring snap. 9-10 feet of 100% floro by Berkley, I LOVE THIS STUFF BTW!!!

I have found the meat no differnt, I guess I never look. I don't eat fish to begin with. I have had no complaints from anyone I have given it to.
-
Anyone use them? What do you use? Since I rock out a small boat and the cooler is way at the front, I have taken the liberty of beating the crap outta the fish before them come out of the net. They are much less livley after a few cracks of my D town tigers mini bat. I have been looking for an older mini metal baseball bat from when I weas a kid. I have yet to find one.

I have an older 18' side console Lowe that I love. She has a 70 horse and a 9.9 for trolling. The good: Fits 3-4 people Sips gas (Less then 18 dollars a trip depending on how far I go out) Easy to trailer I can take her on smaller lakes GREAT for fishing in close in the spring The Bad: I fish in nothing over 3 foot waves!!! You get thrown around a lot. Call me a sissy if you will. but I am not going to take my own life in my hands by fishing on a marginal day. We have plenty of nice days to fish and that is good enough for me Tight fit with 4 people Open bow Not a huge amount of room to work in the back. Mounting rod holders is a bit rough Carpet in the boat gets bloody and I have to steam vac it ever trip or 2

Ken, I go under the knife Thursday, but I am more then willing to keep stats at the weigh ins. I may or maynot fish the next couple depending on how I feel and how bad the chop is. None the less plan on me keeping stats for the events.

Nice job guys I enjoy hook and line more.... A bit more of a challange.

If I am running one I pull it. I generally ran one when fishing in close at the start of the year. mostly a 1 or 2 color, as I have moved farther out I have not been using it.

I have had a few people ask what I have been getting my fish on... I call it luck, but I will post it anyway. I have been doing well, running a 2-3 fish average for a 3 hour trip. Brad's Cut plugs have been my bread and butter. Running a six man spread I have been running 1-3 in the spead. Starbord side 5 color Mag spoon Diver flasher w brads cut plug rigger gets a spoon or tin can w/ spin glow Port side Rigger Brads cut plug clean Diver with a spoon 8 color Brads cut plug clean If I am only running 1 cut plug it generally stays on the diver or the rigger. If I am getting more hits from kings I will leave it on the flasher combo. If I am finding more lakers I will put it down on the bottom on the rigger. If I am running a tin can spin glow on the opposite rigger the brads cut plug 50-100 feet back on the bottom has been my bread and butter. Matching the cut plug to the spin glow color seems to be critical. I am no expert, but this is what has been putting a few fish in my box. -
Fished with my Father in law this morning for a quick trip. (3 hours) With everyone fishing south of Holland, I figured I would take a run north and see what I could find.... Set up in 50 FOW around 7:45 and had my first fish by 8 am. 6-7 pound king on the bottom on a diver Trolled around for another hour with nothing going other then the diver slammed and released... Stick??? Log??? body??? none the less no one home. Once again I was pounding the bottom. 2nd fish came about an hour later. 50 down on a rigger in 60 FOW. 4 pound laker Traveled almost all the way to PS and didnt mark JACK!!! Take it for what it is worth... IT IS A WASTE LAND up that way.. All hits came on a N troll All hits came in the bottom 10 feet Cores didnt do jack. Pulled lines at 10:30 Off to work
