  5. So with the weather man talking of big heat and some bigger winds. I figued I should take the day to get some fishing in the 1 foot waves. Yesterday morning the lake was like glass, I got a late start as I told my ridder the wrong launch so after a quick phone call and a 15 minute way, we were on our way out of Holland. I headed for the same area I fished in the WMFL 70-85 FOW to set lines as the sun was already starting to peak over the dunes. What did I find..... Nothing It was a waste land and the search was on. I worked my way SW and started marking fish a half mile south of the pier heads in 90 FOW. Just like that it kicked into high gear. The 300 copper just starts ripping and my newbie on the boat goes to get it and couldnt get it out of the tree!!!!!! It was a good fish and when he got it out of the tree hooks came out and it was all over. So I reset the 300 copper and try and go back to my crackers and cheese and it screams again... board goes under this time I grab it and its GAME TIME. I had off the rod to my newbie and after a good battle an 8 pound king lands in the net. After disposing of the fish and getting the net clead ect ect ect... the 300 is reset.... 5 minutes later it takes off again. and blam gone!! We took one more hit on the 300 and the same thing.. I changed out the hooks to a nice new shiney Owner. As I was pulling lines the rigger starts slamming and I knew something took the scooter clipped slider.... I reeled down to it, and it was gone. What worked.... 300 copper UV spoon from Big lake Lures Holo Mod Blue Veggie SS mini super screw What didn’t work Everything else PM trip!!! I really was not up to fishing last night as my wife had made some good dinner. My buddy Dane wanted to go fishing and so did his GF. After talking me into going. I DRAGGED myself out outta my AC and loaded the boat. We cleared the pier heads and had a nice south wind going so I rode the waves out and headed north. (I had not fished north since fishing near shore for steel.) I ran out to 115 and trolled with the 1 footers as Dane and I set lines. No more then we got all the lines went and both riggers pop… they double back over and the fish was gone on both, VERY weird. I took the helm and turned the boat south into the waves and starting working my way SE in search of some fish. Needless to say it started slow… and ended in a furry of FUBARNESS. By then end of the night ended up 5 for 12 or so. Patriot (Prototype Big Lake lures spoon) took 5 hits and landed 3 fish 2 Lakers and 1 king on 350 copper. One of the Lakers was 18” and was released. Same spoon on the 300 copper as this morning took 3 hits and landed 1 king. Custom green 8” SD with and ITO NBK fly took a nice king 250 copper Lemon berry had a slam Missed a slider or 2 with a mini mixed veggie. What didnt work Brad's plugs Super slim program from this weekend I changed all the hooks again.. I just need to keep them connected!!! Pictures coming as soon as I find the camera! Other info: The fish I was into were S of the sliders in 85 to 93 FOW. I marked alot of fish near the bottom in this area. SOG was 2.9- 3.2 SE troll was the best Hot spoons- Rigger The sunset The catch

  9. The 3rd one from the right has been HAWT.... 300 copper took 6 hits today. Only managed to get 3 of those 6 in.. .I have nailer syndrome
  10. I can't take any of the credit. I just drove the boat and picked lures. Alex and my buddy Dane fought most of the fish and netted them;)

  15. Got up this morning with high hopes!! I met up with Hollandpipper and a good friend and launched the boat from the state part and made my way to the big lake. For once we were running ahead of sched. and powered down the boat in 40 FOW. I check the graph to find PILES OF FISH!!! We sat and waited for the clock to switch to 6 am and started to set lines and went on a West troll twards a mark I had in the GPS from the night before. A half hour later and alot of action we started working a temp break that we picked up a few fish from. by 9 am we had 9 fish in the box. One being a 17.10 pound king that came on a 10 " Blue/Chrome SD with a Bush Lite Big Weenie Fly.(This was my top day time flasher fly combo last year) We managed 1 more fish before noon and snuck back inside looking for one more bonus point steelhead, We marked alot, but could not get them to go so we pulled lines and went in. We met everyone at the fish cleaning stations to share stories and have a few soda pops:) Hot lures: Small Confusion stinger 55 down on rigger (3 fish) DW SS Blue Dolphin 77 down on a rigger (3 fish) Mixed Veggie standard on 250 copper (2 fish) Blue/Chrome SD with Blue chrome fly (1 fish) Copper/pink thin fin on a mono line 150 back from the board on a high line (1 fish) All in all 10 for 10
  16. Fished out of Holland tonight with the wife. I just wanted to get out for a quick trip and get back in so I could get the boat ready for the WMFL. Went 2-3 tonight. All on the mag monica that I had painted at Big Lake Lures on a 250 copper. I did however finaly catch something on a BLUE DOLPHIN ... well the downrigger did... an 8 foot log that I dragged up from 80 feet!!! I should have took pictures, but I never even thought to grab the camera. I also managed 2 plastic bags, 1 on the 250 copper and 1 on the 300. This was the type of night it was!! As I said came in at 9 pm ordered a pizza and am going to try and plan for the morning. 4 pound laker on a 250 copper 6 pound laker on a 250 copper 10 pound king came off 15 feet from the back of the boat (Would have been my wifes first king on the big lake) All in all a good day. Anyone else see a bunch of CRAP floating around??
  17. I also have a small craft. 1-2 sounds better then 2-4 IMO
  18. Just Hook'n, I am in the same boat as you... The only chance I have is to hit up the steelies.... I wonder if they would hit shrimp in 200 fow;)
  19. I like Blood run because it is much easier to work with then other copper. less crimps, messes ect. For the details on the reasons why, someone else can chip in:)
  20. needs a monica pattern
  21. I agree with eveything above. I do like the smaller spoons for fishing the top 30 for steelhead. Stingrays work well on the core/copper
  22. Just run one of every Flounder on the rods and a double trouble on the rigger you will be happy with the results:) I have heard good things about area 51 and bought one, sadly it is still in the package. I will have to change that.
  23. Moonshines on every pole, thats cheating ken;)
  24. I had to many run ins with vanish breaking, I am glad someone found a good batch of it:) As with all fishing everyone has personal preferance.
