EK... we need to get out soon and fish.... This week has been an amazing week for me. I am ALMOST ready to go back to work Monday.... -
What a differance a couple of days makes..... The begining of the week, Iwas fishing Blue Dolphin/Green Dolphin on EVERYTHING..... Fast forward to Friday, and I ended up fishing WHITE everything. (Minus 2 spoons for steel) \ I had the please of fishing with a USA Army vet on thursday with a friend of his. I could not ask for better company. Thanks Jesse for serving our country and serving as rod boy on the Scooby Snacks. Thursday am was the gong show with only fishing 4 rods for 2 plus hours. We would take hits as fast as I could set rods. After a bunch of lost and some good netting blunders.... 15 nice fish made it to the box. At the end we had 14 fish and I was trying to pull lines and ended up catching 2-3 more Fished from the sliders to Douglas point and then ran back home. 17-33 or something like that total. Saturday AM I had the pleasure of fishing with Stuffit57 and his sone from Michigan Sportsman. After a slightly later start than normal we made the run out in the chop to 60 foot of water by the time we hit 85 we had almost 10 fish in the boat with a very happy 13 year old. Once again as fast as I could put down the riggers they would fire. One hit inparticular I set the rod cranked it down and never took my hand off the rod and it had a fish on it. What made today super fun was a quad with no auto pilot and 3 guys. 1 on the wheel, me holding 2 rods. The 13 year old son going to town on a diver fish to have the deep copper JUST SCREAM!!!. 30 MINUTES later we get to the screaming deep copper and Jake the 13 year old man child. takes over the now 600 copper. No Joke this kid can fish tournies with me any time he wants. He put in WORK on this copper and landed the fish. Today was full of interesting moments. Another screamer on the deep rod and Jake was fired up and ready to take over rod duty. Drag set right, big fish on I hand off the rod after I get it out of the tree. My fav. 6 am sound just sings from the drag on the reel, all of a sudden slack line......... I bring the line back in to see the 25 pound floro leader SAWED off. The fish must have swallowed the spoon and had line in the corner of its mouth as it swam away...(Not much you can do about that.) We picked up our last 4 fish and found one swimming along the boat on its side. It must have broke off after a long fight with someone else this morning. all in all 15 for 23 What worked the past 2 days. 100 copper Did not fish 200 copper Hawg Wild BLL 300 32 pound Mother Of Pearl BLL (HOT) 300 45 pound Mag Blue/Green Frog BLL 250 32 pound Fish On! BLL Prototype 270 45 pound Moonshine Double Trouble (Changed to Bullseye after I broke off the DT and it also caught fish diver Pink eye BLL Back 150 on 2 diver BLL Hawg Wild 130 on 2 rigger Moonshine Double Trouble down 70 (Hot) rigger Moonshine Double Trouble down 80 (Hot) UV Spin doctor with a blue dolphin teaser rig has also been good for fish after the sun is up. Along with brads cut plugs down deep with a Green Gator Pro troll. What I have noticed this year vs the past two are the fish are just TEARING gear apart. I have broke/bent/ destroyed hooks from every company. Owner 4x hooks are getting malled just the same. I will be the first to admit on my divers I run the drags tight when I run spoons. I want them to buttong themselfs when they hit (I do loose some gear, but 95 percent of the time when they hit, they are there for good.) This does not explain why they are tearing up the copper hooks so bad. Either way I will pay the price for new hooks if the fishing keeps up. The info: All week I have fished from 60 (set up) trolled out to 90-95 and caught fish. Always on a SW troll. As the morning moved on I fished 101- 110 on a south troll. SOG 2.4 North troll has been Jank:( Holland to Saugy all the way to Douglas point. (More steelhead than kings down by the point) ended with 12 kings 3 steel. Pictures ect coming tonight. See...... Even I reel in fish once and a while:)

As many of you know I have had the week off work (Mostly) and have spent some good times on the big lake. Fishing has been AMAZING!! 20 plus hook ups a trip. Not as many fish landed but many good stories and a few cold ones may have fallen to a higher power;) This morning was no differnt. Set lines at 530 or so.. .and first fish at 540. The gong show went one for about 2 hours until we turned North (BAD MOVE) 2 hours of dead time later and we went south again and started to pick up fish. Trolled out to 150 and caught fish most of the way. I may or may not have had to retie a 300 copper with a fish on it and then finish realing it in. (Thank you to the boat that gave us ALOT of room to do so.) What has worked all week again worked this morning 95 FOW SSW troll 2.4 SOG top 60 feet (Until late and then switched over to cut plugs down deep) Blue Dolphin SS on the riggers stacked with cheater clips 49 and 59 down Green Dplphin SS on the 100 200 copper Blue Dolphin BLL Mag on the 270 45 copper Fish On BLL Prototype (Green/Blue with Orange Head) on the 200 and 300 32 Moonshine Jplug Blue Flounder 300 45 pound Hawg Wild BLL standard on the High divers 130-150 back on 2 Later in the morning we went out deep and fished Brads cut plugs down deep on the divers as well as BLL Blue Dolphin Teaser rigs on the UV Spin doctors Ended up with 12 for ALOT!! This has been my program ALL WEEK. IT WORKS... Pictures comming soon. Had a great trip with Eyecracker.

Some nice trout..... I wonder how those got there:) -
So being that is Sunday night at almost 10 pm. I get to look back at think about the great weekend I was lucky enough to have. I fished Saturday and Sunday morning with guys from work (some of them are also on this site) Saturday- AM As most of you know I have been fishing up north past PS for the past month or so. Thursday night I fished in the same area up north so I figued Saturday that would be as good as place as any to start. 0500 We headed out of the piers and set down in 50 and trolled NW to 90 and then turned the boat south and looked around for the next 2-3 hours..... WITH A BIG FAT NOTHING. About the time we passed holland we picked up our first fish. We trolled all the way to Saugy picking away at fish for the next few hours and pulled lines at 11:15 ended up 6-11. The cooler had a nice mix of steel and kings with a 6 pound coho to boot. Of the 5 fish lost..... 1 took the slider and ran it across the diver snapping the main line. the rest happend to be hyper active steelhead on the boards who put on a great show. Sunday AM 14-21 or 22 Lost track while dealing with a triple. After my start on Saturday, I figued I would run away from the dead zone up north. I ran out to 70 FOW just before the sliders and trolled out to 85 FOW. By the time we were in 85 we had 3 fish in the boat. We turned the boat south and never left that water. Trolled all the way to Douglas point and turned around to troll home. So overall for the day 18 hits came on a S troll 1 on an east 1 on a west troll. I could not buy a fish going north. Troll speed was terrible ect. After a couple of downtimes with a half hour to hour wait between fish we nailed a nice steel on the diver down 120 on 2 and it was just ralphin bait. We worked quarter mile circle for the next 2-3 hours just banging away at fish. We would comeplete the turn and go S though the area and take a hit or 2. None the less I got to spend to AMAZING days on the water and catch some fish with good friends. Radio was dead Sunday morning and I only saw a couple boats around us. (Would like to point out that I had 3 guys in the boat Sunday. Also missing 3 fish in the pictures as we had 3 undresized lakers.) Top to bottom BLL Blue/Green Frozen Toad BLL Blue/Green Dolphin BLL Green/Yellow Frozen toad BLL Green Kato Moonshine Blue Flounder J plug Silver streak Standard Blue/green Dolphin Green/Yellow 8" spinnie with a Blue water fly meatless teaser Green Dolphin DW SS Blue Green Dolphin HOT DW SS Green/yellow Dolphin HOT BLL Mag Electric Lemonaid HOT BLL MAG Electric lemonaid HOT The spoons posted are the ones that did the best over the 2 days. Which spoon Jim? -
I give it away to people at work.

I grew up fishing kings with my father and him being a single dad we ate WAY TO MUCH of it. I can eat it.. .does not mean I enjoy it. I fish for the sport of it.
-
To trade wild game for veggies ect..... I know you can not sell it, but can you barter it? The reason I ask is my wife is unable to eat anything with glutten and we know peoples love for salmon (that we do not have) Trade it for veggies and fruit Just wanted to make sure it was legal.

I wanted to throw out some props to Aaron at Lakeshore tackle. I had a run of bad luck the past couple weeks and broke off both of my UV SD (Uv blade with UV crush tape) I stopped to see if he had any this weekend and to bad for me he was out. Everyone else seems to be out as well. He put in an order for me and they should be here by MIDWEEK. Can't get any better than that!!!

8-13 was the final damage.... So I had the pleasure of fishing with friends of my wife's who had never fished the big lake before. Needless to say it was an experance not to be forgoten. I think Saturday was the worst boat traffic of the year and it really hurt the fishing. Started at 4:30 in 60 foot of water by 5 am a triple was hooked up and I did not even have the AP set in the water...... I payed for this as I got to drive, net and instruct on how to fight some lake michigan sea donkeys...... Needless to say we only got 1 of those fish in because of some not so good rod work by the noobies... At this point it was the Son 1 and dad 0. I re set the lines put down the AP and tried to enjoy my breakfast of mt dew and crackers when all of a sudden a diver, 2 copper and a rigger all go off at once..... I almost wet myself, I thought I hooked a log! 2 noobies on the diver and rigger as the coppers just SANG!! 2 fish in the boat and a mess of lines and rods as I hand off both coppers that are both 400 plus feet from the boat. .... needless to say again a couple fish got away.... I hooked myself in the hand (Pulled out with some line) and 2 very happy riders:) Starting a day 3-7 would have my hopes up as I was not even fishing the pod of fish that I wanted too. 7 am rolls around and every weekend guy from here to Chicago surounded me and well... I could only take so much and decided to fish outside the pack and moved out to 135 to 150. (There are ZERO fish in that water) I now know this and will not be back for a while. Around PS the pack broke up at 9 am and I worked my way back to the line I had wanted to fish. After talking to Terry I turned back around nad ran the boat at a GPS speed of 3.0 to 3.3 because of currents and started the second "good" troll" of the day. By the time we made it back to Spyglass we had 5 more fish and a loss of a screamer at the end. North Troll 2.4 South Troll 3.0-3.3 What worked Diver Back 180 11" White paddle with a BLL Liquid sunshine fly Diver back 200 11" White paddle with a BLL fly Mirage with glow and blue beads Rigger on the bottom with a silver spinnie BLL Lemon Berry Fly 300 45 pound copper with a BLL Patriot 270 45 pound copper with a BLL Blue Green Frozen Frog 200 32 pound copper with a BLL Blue Green Frozen Frog 250 32 pound copper with BLL Blue/Green Frozen Frog Not very exiting, but it worked....... The best fish of the day was 18.5 pounds... took the 300 copper out another 300 and the young lad on the boat dragged that beast the entire way back to the boat. He was as tired as the fish and was VERY proud... so was is father. All in all a great day... The June slow down is here though... Ended up with 4 kings 4 trout 2 throw backs at 19 inches:( edit to add pictures

I do not have a down speed so I used what I had in GPS... I found 2 that worked and stayed with it... -
I had the pleasure of fishing with Nate VK and his friend Travis yesterday morning. After some minor motor adjustments the night before I am happy to say the boat ran like a champ. I guess it helps to make sure the ground wire is tight, because the motor will start then;) Anyway.... back to the important part. The fishing... we ended up 9 for ALOT.... The good.. was the BIG fish were biting..... the bad they liked some of thier new piercings so much they took them with them. Lost a board (if anyone finds it my number is on it) lost a 350 copper and a couple spoons along the way. Also when someone claims to know what they are doing..... and forgets to set the clicker and lets a fish run 300 yeards plus the 300 copper.... THEY get to reel it in. It was good to watch nate suffer through all 600 feet of copper with a spinnie a fly and a 15 pound fish. (Nate really does know what he is doing... and is a great guy, but I need to make fun of him anyway) What worked BLL patriot 350 copper BLL Blue green frozen frog 250 copper Stinger Black silver small spoon BLL Prototype White Goby Rigger down 60 BLL Wet Dream 5 color SD Blue/Silver with a BWF mirage fly with blue beads Diver back 180 SD solid chrom with a BWF mirage fly with Yellow beads Diver back 150 SD Blue silver w a BWF Mirage fly with Blue beads (with BW Vibrator head) 300 copper SD Crushed UV on clear with a BWF Blue meatless teaser 300 45 copper SD Blue/silver with a BW Mirage/silver fly 300 45 Fished N of holland in 110 to 130 ... with 130 being the best after the sun came up.
