  1. Nice job Steve. Thanks for having Dad and I at camp on Thursday night. Wish i coulda made the outting, but the salmon were calling...Ill catch the next one.
  2. Looks like allot of fun to me. You got some real nice fish there...I love the pic of you on the wire dipsey rod. You can tell theres some serious torque on the business end of that line. I dont know about you, but thats my favorite rod in the boat.
  3. I agree, that is a very consistant producer on our boat as well.
  4. Thanks Matt, tried that....Damn picky fish!!!
  5. Those days happen Justin. Dont beat yourself up over it. Ive come to the conclusion that if you have a good sharp hook on there youve done about all you can do. You either get em or ya dont. Nice work out there, you had some action.
  6. Nice job on the fish Matt. We had allot of those Ludington boys fishing down by us too. Best Chance Too was right next to us most of the morning long. I see you got the bloody nose to fire on the rigger. What depth did you get that to go? I ran that thing all over but couldnt get a sniff. Changed it out and BAM! Fish ON!!!
  7. Nice job on the fish, hope the motor is ok.
  8. Nice job you two. Sounds like a great day on the water for both rigs! Congrats on your finishes!
  9. Ill be honest Larry, Saturday was not all peaches and cream. It was plenty rough when we pointed her east for the harbor...Full rain gear and lots of spray!!!...5'ers easy!
  10. Saturday Ran out to 90' and set up. We'd work a line, then head west and do it again. Finally when after heading west yet again we got some decent marks on the graph and our first cooperative fish in 150'. After that we worked that stretch back and forth just off the bank in 120-175' and picked up our 10 Kings and lost 3 more by 8 am. Fish averaged 12-14# with a couple in the 18-20# class. One fish ripped off 400'+ of line!!! When we came in the creel consensus person was up there and said our 10 fish was the most out of the 20 boats he checked. Said that there were a bunch of 1 and 2 and that the most checked in was 6 before we came in. I was pretty suprised with the fast paced action we had. Wire Dipseys-#1 w/Mag Ring set at 1 1/2 Dbl. Fishlander Grave Digger 5 color w/Mag Happy Meal 10 color w/Ace High Sunday Woke up to some thick fog. Headed out gingerly but shortly after clearing the peir heads it began to clear a bit. So, we got on plane at about 15 mph until we hit 90' and marked a PILE of fish and bait. Set up, got everything in their face, but no takers. So, we repeated Saturdays trend and as soon as we got to our marks all hell broke loose. Hit our first fish at 5:45 am and had our 10 in the cooler and tossed back two 18" Kings by 7:45 am. I had a screamer hit the dipsey and pull 650' of line out and it took me over 25 minutes to work it back to the boat. By the time i got it in we were way outta our zone and in some deep water. We were a bit bummed out at first, but that quickly changed when we hit two doubles and a triple and landed all but one fish out there. What made the morning even more special is that we completed the grand slam today by getting at least one of each Kings, Coho, Lake Trout, Steelhead and a chunky 6# Brown.:D:D Overal our fish were pretty nice again, the Kings were 12-14# and we landed a couple of those 18-20# fish. 11. Get that Cam Lock release, at least thats what i call it, for the front. Its a large black clip and when you clamp it down it actually has a pin that goes down into a hold in the lower jaw of the release. Then hook it in the rear red offshroe release and be sure to get it behind the pin. In all honesty, if you have it behind the pin in the red release your not gonna lose the board or have it slide down. If you do, the release needs to be replaced.
  12. Have your fishing partner try this out. We used to use it on the charter boat, works fantastic. http://www.marvgolden.com/health-safety/vitamist.htm
  13. Sounds like a fun night...Nice toad!
  14. What up Mike?...Welcome to the site!
  15. He's using a slide diver with those lead lengths. If your not familiear with the slide diver, your main line is actually run through the diver itself and allows you to vary your distance between your bait and the diver. Easy to deploy. Set the rod in a stern rod holder, hold the slide diver in one hand and pay line out with the other until you have your desired lead length. After which you lock up the diver, and deploy just like a standard dipsey. When you get a strike and the diver trips it will slide down to your terminal end. Slide divers are a great tool that allow for some stealth to your dipsey presentation. I like to use them in shallower waters or anytime im fishing relatively high in the water column with a diver.
  16. Great job Gun...Very nice report.
  17. Nice coho, thanks for the report!
  18. I agree, same troubles here.
  19. I go as long as i can. Ive found the longer i go, the more productive they are on our boat. So, mine are about 6 1/2' from the dipsey to the flasher. I generally keep my fly leaders about 22" from the bend in the second hook to the flasher when running and 8" spinny, hoochie etc.
  20. Great job Frank. Its good to see a big fish like that come outta the bay. Theyre rare these days.
  21. Nice work Jim. Its always fun when your out with your family.
  22. Nice looking rig, it should fish nicely
  23. Nice work out there Jay....Its always gonna be a good season when you start the year off with some fish in the box!....Glad you got those priorities straitened out...lol
