  1. Thatll just put a nice salmon chop on the water Mike. What time we going? I bet the action could be electric too!!!
  2. Nice job out there. Im suprised the fish were so deep with those surface temps!...But theres no sense in arguing with them. If thats where they wanna be and they wanna bite so be it!
  3. Matt, our handle is "AJ". Whats your handle and what channel you monitor?
  4. Good luck over there. I have to stand in my brothers wedding on Saturday, so fishings out for me. Hopefully we can get a NW wind and cool it off some. Dang water was almost 70* on down to 85'!
  5. Im going to pick up some of the 11" DW Paddles for fishing deep. Im sure ill pick up some of the 8" too, but for now my SD's have been working just fine.

  13. Nice job out there Frank. Glad to hear your still out enjoying the Saginaw Bay. Ive all but given up on the old girl till the ice comes...Its this phenominon that happens every year after i make my first trip to the west side.....as soon as i do, im ruined for the rest of the year....Must be something about fish that know how to swim.
  14. I wouldnt be suprised if they were coho. There were a few dandies brought into the fish cleaning station.
  15. Nice job Timmy. Most of the fish we caught and marked the last couple days were deep as well. High fish on the sonar were around 60' and the bulk scattered from 75-115' with a few really down into the abyss.
  16. Thanks fellas, had a riot over there. Gotta love those silver fish. Matt, My brother took a stupid pill and is getting married on the 8th of August....So i should be over there the following week i believe and a few more times after that. Hopefully i can sneak in a day trip or two before the wedding. We'll see how it goes.
  17. Nice job Roger. I feel you pain. Had the hooks in quite a few yesterday, just couldnt keep em stuck. We all have those days from time to time. I think theyre slapping at it or something when that happens?
  18. Fished Ludington the last couple days. Fished up near the point from the bath house up to the 04's. Early on we fished in 90-130' as we came on and off the bank. Lots of traffic, but theres some fish in there. Trouble is getting back to them...Anyhow, we went 7 for 15 on Thursday morning. Just couldnt keep em hooked up. 19. Nicely done Frank.
  20. I wont dispute that fact either, but the overall functionality and durability is much better. In the end, use what you believe in, can afford etc. Good luck on the big pond.
  21. Valid points Jim, but the reels you have have nothing to do with how many fish you put in the boat. Its knowing how, where, when and what that makes the difference when your on the water, and a little luck never hurts. My point was simply that i have used Okuma, had bad luck with them also and would rather spend my money elsewhere once on something that will last. Our Daiwas have been used hard for over 10 years and to date i have had one click spring fail vs several Okumas whos guts were shredded. Handlining in big salmon isnt my idea of fun. And with the internet now days you can build a great rod and reel spread for the fraction of the cost. Ebay is a wonderful place to buy reels. We've bought several Daiwa SG27LCA and SG47LCA that are either new/like new conditoin for anywhere from $40-$60. Solid reels with a great track record amoungst Great Lakes anglers.
  22. Thats why i dont use Okumas anymore. They just dont hold up. I toasted several on walleye, and a few on salmon. So now when i need another reel i get a tried and true Daiwa like i always used instead of trying something new. Lesson learned. Good luck with your repair and hopefully it doesnt happen again.
  23. Congratulations on a fine day. Wish i coulda fished that tournament, but things just didnt work out for us. If theres ever one to fish, thats the one.
