  1. Nothing like a little chaos to end the day....Gotta love salmon fishing!!!
  2. Nice work Dan. Fish always turn on just prior to a storm. Twice ive gotten caught by those pop up storms with allot of electricty in the air. Both times the rods were popping too. A had triple on walleye and a double on salmon. Got zapped by the electricity getting those fish in though...Man that sucks. Get everything in and hit the road fast!
  3. Looks like a wild bunch there...and some good times too. Nice work!
  4. I wasnt even in the challenge and i respect your opinion and decision on the cancellation Mike. I used to fish allot of tournaments and it sucks being forced to fish bad conditions. Probably the #1 reason we've backed off the number of tournaments we enter....and with the way its blowing out of the SW in Kawkawlin right now, i can only imagine how bad its howling over there right now. Im sure she's got some teeth!
  5. I have a flasher and fly set up i run off the dipsey that i never take apart. Its a very consistant producer for us and was again last trip over. Its an 8" Glow blade SD w/Mnt. Dew tape on one side and my mag bloody nose fly. I use a mag fly head in glow, and paint it red, then i tie on Glow Flashabou I take 10" material and double it in half, so i end up with a 5" fly. I then add 3 12mm ultra glow blue beads to the set up. When i charge it up i have a glowing red fly head, then the natural glow of the flashabou and a nice blue hugh from within the fly. Kings love it. We also took some fish on a mag stinger bloody nose off the high diver....so, its still alive and kickin on our boat.
  6. I wouldnt worry too much about it Mike. Looks like a great spoon and im sure the fish will agree and thats what matters most. Lure package looks great, wish i had the time to come over and fish these events with you guys, sounds like allot of fun. Maybe next year.
  7. It can be frustrating, but what can you do. At least you were getting the hits...Nice job, theyll come around next trip. Good job Nick and Crew.
  8. Good job Andy and crew. Sounds like a good evening with the family.
  9. Hey guys, i saw this on another site and wanted to spread the word. Warning: An unmarked net is in front of the Silver Lake sand dunes in 135 - 155 ft of water. Probably left over from last year. A couple of Pentwater boats have already lost a lot of gear.
  10. Thanks for the report Robert. Youll get after em. Takes a day or so to get a handle on things when you havent been there.
  11. Nice job out there. Good luck up at Drummond. My buddies been asking me to go for years, one of these years im gonna go. They have a riot up there.
  12. Its always neat to find out where the fish were tagged, their info and how theyve progressed. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Nice job out there. Looks like the crew had allot of fun and thats what it all comes down to in the end.
  14. Thanks fellas, it was definitely a great year on Saginaw Bay. What a fishery we have and im so lucky to live so close to it. As far as the silver fish, you hear of a few being caught here and there along the eastern salmon ports. Up towards the tip is best, but not like the west side of the state. Overall it seems that Lake Trout and Steelhead dominate the creel from what i understand....And theres nothing wrong with that. Theyre lots of fun, but nothing can compare to the drag smoking run a big king dishes out, which is why i trek a couple hours over to Ludington or Manistee. Theyre just so much fun to catch. I really would love to see the Kings come back over here. When we had the charter we'd fish walleye till mid July then head to either Port Austin or Oscoda and chase salmon and trout to finish out the open water season. Man, those were the days. Nothing better than fishing a month strait without a day off!!!
  15. Fished out in front of the marina today in 18-21' of water. Water had quite a bit of color to it as well as allot of floating weeds. Between the perch eating us off and the weeds we were busy checking lines. Water temps were right around the 71* mark. Action wasnt fast and furious, but we picked away at them and brought in 10 fish and farmed a couple more. Didnt land anything too big. Got one skinny 24-25" fish and the rest were all those 17-21"ers. All in all it was a good season out there and i doubt ill make too many more trips, if any at all, on the bay until theres ice. Its time for "AJ" to head west and focus her attention on silver fish. Our prodcutive presentation was 1 oz. Inlines 30-35' back, chart/orange w/#5 Bait Rigs Astro Brite Sunfish blade, Chart/Green w/#5 Bait Rigs Astro Brite Watermelon Silver Blade. We also took some fish on 3 oz. BB. Just let em out til they hit, lock em up and set in the holder was right today. Pink Beads w/#4 Pink Panties blade-copper back. Speed was 1.2-1.4.
  16. I run the 4/0 on my flies too. I dont think theyre too big at all. Ive even ran 5/0's.
  17. I know i wouldnt...Theyve had a fantastic week over there!!! Great job guys!
  18. I didnt vote because I honestly havent given them a good side by side comparison. But, i will say that i am a big fan of single hooks on my flies. As PBRKTRT stated those singles really burry in a fish and dont come out. So, i would think theyd be fantastic on a spoon as well. Ill have to take some time and do a comparison. I mean, i have the hooks and everything.
