  1. IMO their VHF radios suck!!! Had two and they didnt last a year each without problems...Couldnt tell you other than that...But, with the popularity of the others and lack there of for the JRC, i would think theres a good reason. Could be way off though, just speculation on my part.
  2. Hey, nice job. I know it can be frustrating, but having action and not getting fish is allot better than nothing at all. Even if they dont hook up at least you know you got the program down.
  3. Lets hope that smelt trend will continue. Will make for bigger walleye and happier smelt drinkers...i mean dippers.
  4. Nice job Frank...Been hearing about allot of Steel this year. Must be the cooler water temps...Buddy that won the FLW last weekend said the walleye up there were puking up 4-6" smelt in the livewell...Good to see.
  5. Hmm...seems their units work until just after the one warranty is up. Had troubles with my sonar unit and had to have it sent in in the spring a few years back. Just outta warranty. Would turn on and off on its own. Sent it in in April, got it back in August!!! Luckily i know the guys at a local bait shop and was able to get a loner unit. Otherwise i woulda been S.O.L. Since then no problems.(knock on wood) But, we were not happy about the turn around time with our unit. Very dissappointing to say the least. We also had trouble with a previous GPS Unit from Lowrance. Changed out units three times before finallly getting our money back and changing to Garmin...Have NEVER regretted it. So, after so much drama with 4 Lowrance Units, when the sonar gets upgraded it WILL NOT be with another Lowrance. Will likely be Raymarine or a Furuno. A couple friends run those on their boat and i really like how they mark fish....and theyve had zero issues.
  6. Nice story Dan. Its always nice to run into old friends. I was in Ludington the other day and ran into Mark from Reel Fishin'. Chatted with him on the net a bit, but hadnt seen him in a coons age. Was good to catch up a bit and exchange some info out on the lake....I read a post he put on another site and it sounds like he will be on a certain jet boat here the next few days..HEHE....Good luck guys.
  7. Thanks for the report Matt. I wanna get back over soon, but i think it might be after Labor Day before i do....I sure hope not!!!
  8. Jay D from this site runs the Torpedos and loves them. If he sees this post im sure he'll chime in. He said they dont drag hard at all.
  9. I could see a TON of boats up that way. Looked like they stretched a bit north of that as well.
  10. Thanks guys. Been trying to get him over there the last few years, but things just havent worked out. And for this trip it finally came together. It was definitely a great feeling to see him enjoy fighting a salmon the way he was. Reminds me of my first salmon years ago in Alpena. We introduced him to hunting and fishing when his mother married my Uncle and he has really taken to it. In the summers he fishes nearly everyday at LBM, enjoys trolling walleye on the bay and is starting to get a pretty good touch when it comes to icing walleye in the winter. Now he can add salmon to his repertoire. I get more enjoyment outta watching him catch fish than i do myself. Like you guys said, that smile tells the tale. He really loves this stuff....Wont be long until early goose and the youth waterfowl hunt...Cant wait!
  11. Nice job Nick, sounds like you had about the same luck as us in that area.
  12. Wow, never heard of that happening. Im not a big Okuma fan, but am glad to hear theyre going to stand behind their product....Too bad they wouldnt do it on their own though instead of you having to push the issue and get the people from Jays involved.
