  1. Oh yeah, i definitely do some hunting. Used to do allot of deer hunting. We had a big lease, but the landowner priced me out. Hunting went way downhill anyhow. I do hunt a farm down state, but its moreso in rifle season. But, i still do a ton of turkey and waterfowl hunting. Early goose wasnt too good for me. Had some trouble obtaining permission this year. Three of the farms i normally hunt had the farmers relatives on them this season. Just some bad luck i guess. And the field i did have changed to more of a traffic field about three days before the first day. Too bad as it was loaded before them. I killed 5 geese for the early season and that was it. Dad put down 3. Today we went and scouted the marsh for the youth hunt this weekend. Lots of mallards and woodducks. Looking forward to the hunt. Hopefully Will can scratch a few down. If now, im sure we'll still have lots of fun anyhow. Good luck when ya get out.
  2. First off, congratulations on finding that keeper "fish" as well as a good trip on the water. Very nice pics, thanks for sharing.
  3. I dont fish Saugatuck, but have certainly enjoyed your reports this year. Great job out there and continued succsess. Keep that net wet Capt.!!!!
  4. Gotta love that short run...Nice job Grandpa! Just and FYI, I heard the 48's in the 33's is pretty good right now for steelies and a mix of smaller Kings. That puts you damn near outta Pentwater. Its only a nine mile run though. Keep pumpin em!
  5. Great job out there. I love those steelhead, even if they get off they still give you a thrill!
  6. Sounds like a couple of fun days on the water. I know exactly how you feel when you talk about catching fish on your homemade lures. Im a long time lure builder and there is no better feeling than catching fish on something you crafted yourself. Well done.
  7. Good luck, sounds like youll have some fun!
  8. Capt. Dan had a great post on here about how he caught some river Kings in the PM over the weekend using Pink Jet Divers and a golf ball sized Skein spawn. Caught a couple of beauties doing that including one 24#er. Maybe the addition of the jet was enough to aggrivate them?...I had some beautiful spawn this week, but i sent it down the grinder since i rarely river fish and didnt know anyone who wanted it.
  9. Nice job out there. Just an FYI, even though your camera didnt have the chip in it should have an internal memory on it and you should have those pics on the camera unless the capacity was already full. Just plug in your USB Cable and load those pics on your computer.
  10. Nice job, Congrats on your win as well as some great days of fishing!
  11. Great job out there. Hope Pop's wife is alright.
  12. Nice job out there guys. Looks like everyone had a good time and thats what its all about!
  13. I agree Mike...LOL...Keep the fish pump running boys!
  14. Nice job out there. Ill take them small fish any day!!! Definitely time to switch gears to steel and smaller kings if you ask me. Lots more productive. Been hearing some fantastic reports from out deep. Wanted to investigate some the last couple trips, just never made it out there.
  15. OK...Is that a 231 area code?

I might go over a couple more times. If i do itll be with my buddy Jay and we'll likely be outta Manistee. I do allot of duck hunting, so Oct and November are pretty booked up. Toss in deer and you get absolutely no sleep...lol

  16. Nice job out there, congrats!
  17. Thatll do!
  18. Nice job fellas! Wish i was closer, id join in the fun.
  19. OK, is that the boat you normally fish out of? Will be helpful now that i know what to look for. Should just exchange numbers, would make things easier that way. Dont know if ill make it back or not this year, but heres my cell anyhow. Shoulda did this a long time ago....lol

    My Cell is 989-737-0899

  20. Nice job Phil, great variety!!!
  21. Good effort Mike, youll get em next time out.
  22. Nice job Dan. Sounds like an exciting trip on the PM with some real nice fish too. I couldnt find any of those big girls on the lake, just the 2 and 3 yr. olds and a couple small 4 yr olds....But, im not complaining either. I have nothing against those little silver bullets, ecspecially when they meet blackened seasoning and the grill. <>< YUM ><>
  23. Headed over to pick up the boat and fished a few days while we were there. Wed PM-Short trip 2 for 4 on four year olds north of the pier head in 45'. Had a triple, one bit the plug off and we landed the other two. The other got off before we got the board in. Thurs. AM Fished Lincoln River in 45', moved out to 180 and fished north on past the pointed. Ended up 5 for 9. Couldnt keep the fish out deep buttoned up. All Kings. Thurs. PM-short trip Fished the pier head again as my brother was coming into town and we had to meet him. Fished 40-100'. Didnt mark much, nothing like Wed. night. Got the skunk for the time spent. Fri AM Friday morning ran back up north of the big point where we had our best action. Ended up 7 for 9. 2 Lakers and 5 Kings. Friday PM Headed back up to our spot, ended up 4 for 5. 1 Steelhead and 3 Kings. Saturday AM Headed back up to the point and got into em. Couldnt fish too long as my Grandmas B-Day party was at 2 pm and i had a 2 1/2 hour drive home. Ended up 6 for 8. Shoulda had 7, but my net man made an execuative decision about cleaning that 7th fish. Swiftly cleaned my spoon from the fish with a well placed stab...WHOOPS! Did most of our fishing up north of the big point from the 05-07's in 35-60' of water but did take a few out deeper. Theres a net in the 06's, so be mindful of that. Inside net stake is pretty shallow, id say 50-70'. Not sure exactly on depth, so keep an eye out. It runs out to the west. Fish came mostly on spoons and a few plugs on either riggers or lead core. Lead Core 2,3,5,9,10 3 and 5 color with 3 oz. snap weights Riggers 30-50' down and 100-125' off the ball Wire dipsey 3 1/2 back 50' with 8" white dbl. crush glow SD w/glow green chaos fly. Also 160' back with 8" Blue Dolphin SD and Blue Chaos fly. Blueberr Muffin Plugs Ace High Green Glow Ladderback Ace High Green Glow Splatterback Ace High Glow Lightning Dreamweaver Super Green Didnt tear em up so to speak, but from what we heard, we were thrilled with our numbers as many werent as fortunate. There were a few charters from Manistee fishing where we were and they struggled on Friday morning. Two of the four had 2 fish and the other two did about the same as us. They didnt do much better yesterday morning when we came in. Ludington Municipal Marina cleaning station had one charter with 8 fish Thurs. morning. Other than that i never saw anyone cleaning fish when i passed through. Did see a few in pales on the dock, but nothing major. Guy cleaning for hirer at the Loomis Street ramp said very few fishing coming in and only 1 or 2 when they do. Ended up with 1 steelhead, 1 coho, 2 lake trout and 20 Kings for the trip. Mostly chrome 2 and 3 year old kings with a few smaller 4 year old fish mixed in. Great way to cap off the year. Ill get pics posted when i load them on the computer.
