Nice job Dan. I see you and Mark E Mark had a great day on the pond. Seems i missed this post. This was just prior to me leaving for Ludville last week. Did you guys make it over there for the salmon yet?

Anyone have any tips for taking pics? If so, add them here. We all love looking at great photos, but to get them requires some careful work with the camera. Im no expert, but heres a few things i like to do to help get a better quality picture. I like to keep the horizon parallell with the top of the frame in the camera. If possible, have the sun shine on the subject and position yourself so that your shadow doesnt appear in the picture. Also, use the zoom to capture the subject matter. You want to fill the frame. Dont over/under zoom though.(things i struggle with when my Dad takes pics:no:) Also, some poses/shots are best taken in either portrait or landscape, so position the camera appropriately for each shot. I also like to get slightly below the subjetct matter. It just seems to make for a better pic. Cant remember why, but i read it in a magazine somewhere. And lastly, i think most use digital cameras now days, so take allot of pics of the same subject and when you get home youd be suprised that that one of the three shots is great and the others are just ok. I said my piece, now pile on boys so we can all take those fantatic shots everyone likes to view.

Ill do one better Matt, ill go down in the shop and take a pic of them. I have my own names cause i tie my own flies. So, ill just take a pic with the flasher and then youll know what i mean.

Im not sure on the price point, would have to know all the features i guess and weigh it up to wants and needs. But, hassel free, small and wireless would be something id look for if i were pursuing a product like that.

Interesting set up there Dan. A friend of mine did that very thing with his harnesses this year. He ran his behind BB and inlines though, not right on the weight like that. He's a big muskie and pike fisherman as well and as often happens when an angler is a multi species angler, hybrid presentations are born. Cool concept, im sure anglers and fish alike will love them.

Sorry to hear about Maddie, thats real tough. I dread the day my Britt Abby passes. Good luck on the birds this season. If you have food and habitat theyll come back. A friend of mine put all of his land into a program 150' wide from the ditch out and does allot of no till farming. He has pheasants to no end. NO, B.S., we have seen flocks of 50+ birds in the picked beans in December and January. We shoot maybe 10 birds each season and leave the rest for seed. Its amazing what has transpired over the last 8 years or so. Its a real special place and im very fortunate to be able to hunt here each year.

I dont run em a whole lot on the cores either. I usually stick with spoons and plugs on those, but have done real well at times on an 8" NBK SD w/Green Mirage fly on the full core. As opposed to Matt, flashers and flies take a ton of fish on our boat. They do real well on the divers. A few weeks back 6 of 8 rods in our spread had a flasher and fly on them, but we were fishing pretty deep and they really wanted that agressive stuff. I usually have at least a couple in the spread somewhere though. Good tool.

You can run them on all of those delivery devices and can run any of those baits behind them. If you run them on lead core or dipseys they wont run as deep as they would with a spoon or plug on them. And with a rigger, youll have more blow back. Most commonly a squid or fly is run behind a dodger or flasher. In general i run my dodgers and flashers behind a dipsey or on the riggers. Most times i run an 8" on the dipseys. When i run them on riggers i usually bump em up to the 10-12" size on my riggers with a 35-45" leader to the fly/meat rig. Most times when im doing that im fishing deep. There are other variations and im sure others will chime in.

LOL...I know exactly where your coming from. I went through that as well. But take it from me, dont get too wild as youll find more often than not you'll go back to the well for the tried and true flies and those razzed out different colors stay in the tackle bag. They have their days, but arent nearly as consistant as others. IMO its aweful tough to beat a blue, green, Aqua or white fly behind a flasher for salmon. Anyhow, have fun and dont be suprised if you get an inkling to start making other tackle to match YOUR needs. I started with one style of jig and now i make several, tie different variations of crawler harnesses, trolling flies, jigging spoons...Yeah, its an addiction!

Biggest fish was a 22# King on a Mag Moonshine Daisy Cutter 75' down and 40' off the ball. Caught it outta Ludington in the low 57's in the 37's. Besides that fish, that spoon was with out a doubt our best this summer It was a very consistant producer. We did catch allot of mid to high teen sized Kings on 8" White Dble Crush Glow SD w/Glow Green Chaos fly 22" from tip of loop to bend in hook on the wire dipsey. I have two of them that took so many fish that only the glow tinsel remains cause greens been chewed off!!!
