  1. Nice job Capt. Drew, keep poundin' em!!!
  2. Thats awesome...Congratulations.
  3. Wolves...I bet Scotty will add to this thread if he reads it.
  4. Nice haul, they absolutely slammed em. Awesome quality as well. I went up there a couple years ago for some of those trophy fish, but we came up epmty handed. Seems our timing was terrible as they did real well the week prior and the few days we were there were quite poor. Talking to many locals we got that shoulda been here yesterday...Just my luck...It was a balmy -11 with -35 windchills as well. From the woods of a famous tea commercial..."Now thats BRISK!"
  5. So when should i get up there?...LOL...Great pics and some nice deer guy. Hopefully a couple will slip up.
  6. The other large swing as well from the Pa's in the snapweights to inlines and BB era has been the phasing out of hard baits, or in Saginaw Bay's case, the hot n tot. It was once the #1 presentation and i remember Franks had, and still does have, the best selection when it comes to color selection of hot n tots. TONS and i mean TONS of custom colors came out with their wide spread popularity. They were ordering 600-800 if a single color just to keep all of us raging animals stocked up and happy. I can only imagine the fear the first time they started making orders like that. But what a succsess for both Franks and the fisherman of Saginaw Bay. Man we used to really pound the fish on those tots. Theyll still work very well today, they just dont see the run time for many anglers, myself included, that they once did....It still pains me to see the 3/8 Rattle Tot get scrapped....That is a walleye thrashin machine!....So many lures, so little time.
  7. Great post, hopefully someone was able to get the jump on one of those before they were gone.
  8. Very nice Dan. That just accsentuates how great our fishery is here. We are SO fortunate to live a stones throw away.
  9. Nicely done Matt! Great looking buck my friend. Now that you have your deer down you better get grandpa and the boat back out on the lake after those fish! Sorry to hear about your miss Peter. Youll get em next time around. Great effort trying to find any signs of a hit. Thats more than allot of folks would have done im sure. Good karma will visit you soon im sure. Good luck!
  10. Nice job as usual Jay...Wheres the gory fish porn!!!...You know we love pics!
  11. Heres a great link a friend sent me and was also a response on the thehulltruth website. Has exploded views of all your engines componenets etc. Great link for anyone IMO. http://www.usboatsupply.com/Mercury_Mercruiser_Parts_Catalog3a.php?mc=02&ms=700&si=639
  12. OK, while down deer hunting the last couple days i came acrossed a Mariner 8 hp outboard while visiting with the farmer where we keep the camper. Anyhow, he said he hadnt used it in a couple years. Well, i just happen to be in the market for a little larger motor for my duck boat, so i made him an offer and he accepted it. It hasnt been run in a couple of years and he couldnt find his manual. So, i get the motor home and check everything out, and it looks fantastic. This motor looks brand new. Theres a small shroud on the front of the carb, so i took that off and sprayed a bit of carb cleaner in there to make sure anything on the outside was cleaned of any varnish etc. I tried starting it, but no dice. Finally i took a small spray bottle of gas and as long as i spray it in the carb itll keep running. And it runs pretty darned good too. But, as soon as i quit spraying it quits running. So, ive come to the conclusion that its not getting gas an either needs the jets cleaned or a new diaphram. So, im gonna have to tear the carb off clean it and find out about the diaphram. So, this is where i need your help. Anyone know of any sites out there that can help me #1) find the year of the outboard by serial # and #2) has a schematic for the carb incase i mess up when i take it apart? The info on the motor tag appears as follows: MARINER 8 677 S 011100 The tag is black and MARINER 8 and 677 are all in silver letters. Then to the right of the 677 is a box thats sivler in color and thats where the S 011100 is printed in black lettering. So, if my logic is correct, then that gives me a model(677) and Serial # S 011100 Thanks for any and all help...Adam
  13. Welcome aboard Mike....Nice to see another has got the bug real bad! Thats awesome, congratulations on your purchase as well. Hope she gives you many years of trouble free service...Pics man, we need pics...lol Guys have done a good job getting you started. A good thing for you to do would be to meet up with someone in the muskegon area and have them show you their set ups to give you an idea the direction you need to go. Its tough to build a large spread all at once. A basic spread of 7'6"-8'6" rigger rods with mono and your 209's will serve you well on the riggers. A couple 8'6" diver rods with line counters spooled with some 30# Power Pro for dipseys and a couple of 8-8'6" board rods spooled with 1-10 colors of lead core or copper line will have you catching plenty of fish off your new boat. As you know, theres allot to take in, so reread some of the great post on this site and find someone local who can help you build your spread...Good luck to you. Looking forward to your posts with big hauls of feesh!!!
  14. Yup, we used to pound them on Pa's!!! Didnt take the company long to catch on that everyone tossed that guady looking gold hook an replaced it with their own crawler harness. Then the Pa's crawler connection was born.....Ah the good old days, less fish, but much better quality...I dont know about you Frank, but i liked the original Pa's the best. Once they put that lead fin on the bottom of the bill there were a percentage that wouldnt run true. Seems to me they did away with that and went back to their original plan, but i could be wrong....Anyhow, a great tool and we used them allot, but as you said we as fisherman evolve in our ways of presentation and next thing you know you have tackle collecting dust. I still have a ton of Pa's and haul them out on every trip, but they rarely hit the water. Its tough to compete with the short amount of line and effisciency an inline weight or BB gives you. All great tools, might have to break them out again myself. Pygmies are another favorite of mine. Walleye absolutely love em!!!
  15. Nice job Steve...Way to pound em...Too bad that you had to drive 2 1/2 hours for 10 minutes of fishing though!!!
  16. Nice post Ken.
  17. Nice job George. Vita Motion-S is a great product for sea sickness. It comes in the same dispensor as breath spray. Its also a ginger based product. Works fantastic.
  18. Nice job Terry. From what ive been hearing and the way our camps hunt went you made a wise decision...We got way too much corn and its way too nice out for hunting...Shoulda been in a boat somewhere instead!!!
  19. Damn nice deer....Congratulations!
  20. Im sure they did cause they show up in droves in August at times!...lol...Tear em up Frank, i know you will.
  21. I pitty you the day the white bass turn on Franky boy!!!...Been there back in my charter days with a 12 rod spread of Pa's....Ill take my 6 or 8 and be very happy. Good fishing to you aboard the "charlottes web"..lol Go get em tiger!!!
  22. Buddy Matt called last night and said he got permission to hunt a disked corn field and invited me to join him this morning. So we went out and set up. As we waited for the first flights we were b.s.ing about the season thus far and one thing lead to another and we got on the subject of bands and how he had never got a banded goose before. So, in the course of the conversation i joked that i was gonna get a double banded reward banded goose today. Well anyhow, we ended up with three birds for the morning and no reward bands, but the first two that we dumped were both banded. They were definitely banded together as the band numbers were consecuative. 1008-61786 and mine was 1008-61787. I reported my band as soon as i got home, so hopefully ill have some info on it soon. I have a feeling its going to be a bit as it wasnt in the data base for the last 20 yrs. So, id say it was banded this year and the banders info is not yet in the data base. Band doesnt look worn enough to be real old either. And being that they were consecuative bands i think its probably unlikely that theyre over 20 years old, despite how large they were...In the end, we didnt tear em up, but had allot of fun and it was a great way to end the first leg of the regular Canada goose season. Now that the corn is coming down, bring on the Nov. 26th opener...Plus thats my birthday!!! Anyhow, heres the pics form this morning. Thats the wad that i pulled outta the wing of my bird. Guess it was close enough.
  23. I love smallies. I always said id trade 10 largemouths for one stubborn smallie. Damn theyre fun to catch!
