  1. Ah, nice work getting what they gave ya. Im sure itll pick back up for you.
  2. Nicely done. I woulda killed for one of those browns this weekend. There were none caught it the tournament so that prize went unawarded and is rolled over to next weeks tournament.
  3. Nicely done Eric.....This is shaping up to be a tradgic year it seems. Prayers to the family, everyone be safe out there. Did anyone hear anything about an incident outta Frankfort. While we were running we could hear the Frankfort C.G. talking about and incident. Maybe they were involved in the search as well?
  4. I run the ones and magnums. I run the the 1's when the fish are higher in the water or shallower and the mags when i need to get deep. More often than not i have the mag ring on as well.
  5. Nice job Tony. Looks like you all had a wonderful day.
  6. Headed up Thursday with JWheeler to prefish on Friday for the tournament. Met his BIL Eli and buddy Chris and headed out on Friday morning. Action wasnt fast and furious, but we picked away at them and ended up 7 for 10. Had 5 Kings a coho and a laker. Big Kings were 10# and 15#. Headed in feeling good about our effort as none of us had been out on the west side this season. Went to the ladies weigh in to see the winning weight was 45#. So we went home and weighed ours and came up with 42# and some change, so we felt real good about our day. Finished the day off with a nice meal of walleye and venison tenderloin that Jason and Chris provided...Good stuff let me tell ya! Saturday morning we blasted off at 7 am in some great conditions and headed out to our spot. Got on the fish, but couldnt get em in the boat. Started the day 1 for 4 i think it was and lost two big Kings. One that went 15-18# along with a solid 10-12# fish at the boat. Ended up picking away at em and finished 7 for 11 with 4 Kings, 2 Lakers and a steelhead. Not the basket we wanted to weigh size wise. Turned in 17.60# and were in 17th after day one....had somemore salmon and taters for dinner. No fish pics today. Sunday morning we were greeted once again with some gorgeous weather. Headed out to the same location and got on the fish real quick. Didnt take long and we had the rods poppin. In short order we had 4 fish in the boat then it just died. We made a couple passes trying to relocate our fish, changed some things up, but no dice. So, we picked up and ran out to 350 and trolled out to 450. Couldnt get anything going. So, we made a decision to head offshore hoping for a break and some steelhead, a big king or laker, anything to get that last fish. We set down 18 miles out in 880' in some 52 degree water never finding any real break. It just cooled gradually as we went. Overall it was pretty uneventful trip, but did produce a 5# laker on the 4 color to finish off our 5 fish box. Noon came and as the wind picked up we had to pull lines to head in. Got in a little ahead of schedule so we dropped lines in 150' looking for another fish, but no joy. Headed in and weighed up our 25# and some change which landed us a 13th place finish, 2# outta a money spot. Losing those big kings on the day prior really cost us. We woulda had a shot at big King, a possible 2nd in the 333 and a great finish in the tournament. So close, yet so far away...Thats tournament fishing and we had a blast. Thanks again to Jason, Chris and Eli for a great weekend. I had allot of fun with you cats and thats what its all about. water water was 190-250 for us. Speeds around 2.4-2.6 were best. Productive set ups that i remember were Dreamweaver Green Glow froggy off the 2 color Dreamweaver Monkey George off the 1 1/2 color Pro King Fireball off the 4 and 6 color Dreamweaver Bumble Bee off the 8 color Stinger Starburst off the 4 color White slick glow 11" Pro Troll w/Blue fly 140', 152', and 187' down on the riggers Silver Streak Black and Raspberry down 45' and 54' Silver Streak Green Alewife down 83' Silver Streak Green Dolphin on the free slider with main down 83' Red Crush Glow 8" SD w/Red/glow fly 125' back on 3 setting on high braid diver
  7. Nice job Nick. It was a tough bite up north as well. Lots of low weights in the Onekama tournament this weekend. Two days 61.95 was the winning weight.
  8. I do 300 yds of 30# Power Pro backer, then a 40' segment of 30# mono(for attaching to planer board) tied together using a back to back uni knot. I then tie the opposite end of the mono to the lead core using a willis knot. That knot is bullet proof IMO. Ive never had it fail. Its also a small knot that passes through the rod guides and line guide with ease. No hang ups with this knot.
  9. I was fishing around the spark plug Ron. Fish were in the upper portion of the water column. Plenty around, just not in a big bunch. Seemed to be small pods scattered about. Im gonna head out tomorrow, so hopefully ill have another promising report.
  10. It wasnt. Get a fish, plenty of time to reset, get a drink, b.s. get another one on. Only had a few chaotic flurries where all hell broke loose. I think its about to go gang busters on da Bay Ken. Water was up to 69* today. I was shocked to see that temp!
  11. Take some inline weights and crawler harnesses as well incase they want meat. A friend of mine has been beating em up on Erie on meat.
  12. Ah snap, you cooked em today....I love gills. Fun to catch and oh so tasty....Nice work Ken. Gotta love top water action.
  13. Great boats, will handle the water fine. Only issue is deck space. There just isnt much with the counsil sitting back so far. Its feisable though. Ive fished off a few friends center counsils for both salmon and walleye.
  14. Welcome aboard...Nice to see some fishin nuts from acrossed the pond on here.
  15. Well, Dad and I hit the Bay today. Didnt find a large concentration of fish, but small pods scattered about. Action wasnt fast and furious or slow, just nice and steady which is just fine by me. It didnt take long and we had boated our 10 keepers along with several undersized. Played the C & R game tossing back another 17 keepers before calling it a day. Sublegals included, we were right close to 50 fish landed. Most fish were holding 7-15' down over 24'. We ran 1 oz. inlines with harnesses. The bulk of the fish were taken from 20-30 back, although we took some fish at 35' and 40' back. Chartruese was without a doubt the best choice. I started out with a variety and it didnt take long to see thats what they wanted. By days end we were loaded up 6 rods strong with chartruese bead strings and watermelon silver astrobrite blades from Bait Rigs. Speed was 1.3 for the most part, but a few times we kicked it up to 1.6 and had rods poppin'. Fished with Dad, the fish bit, wind was light out of the NE, no bugs, temps were comfortable. Top that off with some BBQ chicken....I call that a perfect day.
  16. I tie direct...Walleye just dont hit hard enough to worry about busting the leader. Ive never had an issue.
