  1. DECK LOAD ALERT!!! Nice job Kyle, way to wax em!!!
  2. Nice job Ed. Doesnt sound like that south water has improved much from last weekend. We had a rough go of it too the little bit i was out. Im really hoping for some north winds to cool the bathwater off and get fishing going again. When you headed back over? I plan to be over next Friday if things go as i hope.
  3. Thanks guys. Hey Matt, Sorry for the late response. Been absolutely swamped at work and just havent had any time to get out fishing or online. Woulda went this weekend, but my Dad's in the UP fishing walleye. Looks like ill get some stuff done around here thats been neglected and then after work next week ill finally head back west. Cant wait to get over. Ill give you a jangle and see how your doing. Hope your turning the water red buddy.
  4. Made it out Saturday morning, but not for long. One passenger on board got green really fast and after two prompts of do you wanna go in and getting the response no both times i made the call when it happened the third time. No sense in being that miserable out there. The dry heaves are just aweful. He ended up being down for the count all day long in the air at the hotel. Was really suprising as he fishes the great lakes a ton. Just one of them things that could happen to any of us i suppose. Ended up going to Ponderosa for breakfast. They had a pretty good spread, ill be back again. Anyhow, had a real nice king hooked up on a high diver 215 back on a white dble crush glow SD w/Green Chaos fly. Lost it about 25' behind the boat. It was whipped after a great battle and just lay there thrashing around on the surface for about 2 minutes before finally going down. Wish i could swooped around and got it, but that wasnt happening. That was in 103' between Ludington and the Project. Didnt mark much for fish or bait down there. Went back out for some reason in the PM and took a beating in the waves. Wanted to head north, but with the seas ran south a couple miles and set up on a down wind troll. Ended up picking up a steelhead on a 150 copper w/standard Yellowtail spoon in 113' before calling it quits. Just wasnt any fun in those conditions. Plus there were TONS of large logs/trees floating around out there. Dodged many and had one hit the bottom of the boat that i never seen even after striking it. Luckily no damage to the boat. Probably just a smaller limb i guess...thank god. Woke up Sunday morning to more wind and just packed it in and headed for home around 8 am. Worst trip ever to the west side for me. Wish i could catch a break with the wind. 5 trips over this year and rough everytime. We'll get em next time. Sorry its not much of a report, but it is what it is. Thats fishin'. Matt Mishler, I seen the "Bob 'A' Long" parked in the lot on Saturday, but no truck??? Wanted to stop and finally shake your hand. Ill catch up with ya one of these days. Howd you guys fair with the fish?
  5. Flashers and flies are probably my favorite presentation when it comes to catching salmon. I run them allot off dipseys and IMO you gotta have a good quality sharp hooks (i prefer a tournament tie or tandem single configuration with gamakatsu or Owners), fly leader length(may vary day to day or with flasher size), tied on a fluor leader material to impart action to the fly as opposed to more supbtle mono, not to mention it can take allot of shock and is abrasion resistant, and then distance from the dipsey to the flasher is very important to me. Ive found the longer i go the better. Mine are currently 7' and seem to work well. Off the riggers i normally have a 20-60' set back. Finally the beads and fly material. Sometimes they want a bulkier fly, so one with a fresh skirt and larger beads may be what they prefer. Other times, they prefer a fly thats been pretty knarled up and is missing lots of tinsel. I think fly size, as in length is also important. I tie some 5" magnum flies outta Flashabou and they do really well. A favorite is an 8" Glow blade Mnt. Dew SD w/mag bloody nose fly. I never take this combo apart, its been a great producer for me. And the 22" setback from tip of loop to bend in rear hook has been consistant for me behind the 8" flashers. Works for me, good luck.
  6. Nice job Jim. Nothing like breaking some newbies in the right way. Awesome!
  7. I have the same # Matt. Its 989 737-0899

  8. Captain Chucks is gonna be your best bet. Pere Marquette Sports has a few things, but pales compared to Captain Chucks. Tuna's Reel Troubles is also in the back of Captain Chucks if you have any reel issues. Super nice guy, does great work and he's fast.
  9. Nice job and thanks for the report. Sorry to hear about the boat. Hope you get it worked out soon.
  10. Great post Tony. Looks like a fantastic couple of weeks on the gold coast. Heading to Ludington Friday night. Cant wait.
  11. I ran 4 last sunday in some VERY rough seas and have always in the past as well without any issues. I keep my low diver horizontal and with my custom rod holders keep the high diver just above it so it doesnt get into the low if a fish hits. The tip on the low does occassionally dip in the water. So far so good, no problems.
  12. Nice work Mike. Always good to see the kids out there having fun. Good stuff. Tell hunter darned nice fish too!
  13. Keep up the good work, your hauling in some great catches. Keep it up and youll probably have some company...lol And welcome aboard Heidi, this is a great place. If ya need anything dont be affriad to ask, allot of good folks here with a wealth of knowledge.
  14. Nice work Tony, thanks for the report. Didnt make it over this weekend, but will be over next Friday unless something comes up or the forcast isnt favorable. When i was over the best fishing was either south of Ludington or north of the point. 90-150 seems to be some productive water in either location. Fished out along the nets from strait out down to the point and had the same results as you. A mix of kings, steel and lakers but not much on the graph or on the rods. Did better in close fishing the bottom 20' from the stick north to the 06's. Big white paddles and green flies on the riggers 90-125' down and then the same colors 200+ on the wires with spinnies and flies. Mag Flounder pounder was our best spoon. 300 copper w/mag blue dolphin and then the 3 color w/yeck fireball had action. The 150 copper and all the rest of the cores were dead for us.
  15. Wow, thats insane. Glad noone got hurt and that the insurance is coming through. Good luck with your new boat.
  16. Nice job Ken. You got me jonesin' to get over there now!...Next weekend...grrr
  17. Im partial to Ludington. Heading there tomorrow.
  18. I run my plugs bare and theyre usually best for me out on the boards, but i do take fish on them on the dipseys and riggers as well.
