  1. Have had to hang up more than once cause those damn fish interupt..oh darn!
  2. Get the biggest motor you can put on it. When you go smaller and are underpowered youll wish you went bigger. NEVER UNDERPOWER A BOAT!!!
  3. What? huh? your breaking up?
  4. I was up to Linwood area this afternoon. Ice as far as you can see. The first 1/2-3/4 of a mile was all busted up from the NNE wind durign the storm. Gonna be a rough ride out if it dont change. Beyond that still looks bumpy and then some BIG ice jams. Didnt see anyone fishing. Not sure on thickness as i was just on a road trip. Im sure its pretty sketchy. Also, there were some guys fishing the edges of the river at Patterson, but thats outta the question now with that boat leaving the river.
  5. oh boy...west sider invasion
  6. An underutilized resource that i cant wait to tap into. Have caught them incidently on the GL ice fishing... Gonna be fun to target them!!!! Theyre fun on the short stick and string...you know its aint no walleye!!!!
  7. Right, i dont know the details on the crane arrangement, but it seems as though thats awhile to get one there. Of course, im sure it takes a mighty crane to raise a boat under ice....Like i said, i dont know the details of all involved, so its not my place to pass judgment.Im sure theyre workign as fast as possible to get it outta there. Hopefully its effects not substantial. This state and other regions have certainly had its fill of oil entering our waterways this year.
  8. Wow...didnt realize Erie had that poor of numbers. My buddy lives down there and does well on Erie all summer long.
  9. I like the concept of it, but is it going to fail on hard fighting fish like salmon? Also, $8.99 for 4 #1 size trebles aint gonna cut for me. I have hundreds of spoons and cranks. That would cost a fortune to replace them all. In the end, i have other things id rather spend that money on...standard hooks have sure caught a pile of fish over the years too.
  10. Boy, i dont know how i feel about that. For me its one of those things id have to try out first hand.
  11. I wonder if its all the snowfall youve been recieving. We really just got our first significant snow the last couple of days.
  12. We all have our preferences on what we use to catch fish. Whats your favorite? For me, although i consider myself to be a diverse angler when it comes to presentation for walleye, i find myself to be a jig fisherman at heart. Just a versatile presentation. Can be finessed or fish aggressively. Fireball Jigs from Northland and the swim jig or Adam Bomb as i call my homemade version are my favorite jigs. Day in and day out probably some of my most consistant lure choices. I fish these with a full minnow and a stinger. Walleye love jigs! Second favorite is probaby spoons. I catch allot of fish on #1 Do jiggers and small cleos or BPS Flashy Times spoons. Lastly, swim baits like the flyer jigs or jiggin rap.. #3 and #5's seem to work well on bay walleye for me.
  13. Boy this is a bummer http://www.wnem.com/news/26127682/detail.html Will probably ruin the perch fishing thats so popular in this area. Guess its leaking oil and Diesel fuel...crap
  14. Looks to be setting up nicely. Hpefully calm and cold will prevail...and no snow. http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/modis.cgi/modis?region=h&page=1&template=subℑ=a1.10348.1846.LakeHuron.143.250m.jpg
  15. Nothing wrong with pulling fish through a round hole fellas...Its time!!!
  16. Thanks guys. LM had a preview of the Nuvi 500 contours which sold me on their chip. Thanks for the insight and suggestions.
  17. Nice work Ken...Great quality.
  18. Ended up with the Lakemaster Chip. Good to go.
  19. Congrats Matt. Thats a great job. I was mate for several years outta Linwood for walleye. Youll meet allot of great people and have a blast. Enjoy bud.
  20. Nice undertaking Ken. Have fun.
  21. Awesome. Congrats on the back to back victories!
  22. Just ordered a Garmin Nuvi 500 and am want to make sure i get the right map for it. Looking at the Garmin BlueChart g2 map. The numbers HXUS039R. Covers a huge area of the US including the great lakes region. Anyhow, it says it has lake contours, but i was wondering how the detail was on this map if anyone has it? It'll be used primarily on Saginaw Bay and i want the detailed contour mapping. Just wish i could see an example of the detail before i pull the trigger on it. Thanks for any and all imput.
  23. Go to any Salmon port and youll see an astounding amount of Forcshner knives. Theyre a great piece of cutlery and work fantastic for Salmon. I have a 10" and 12" model.
  24. Welcome aboard Ron
